After living in Philly all these years, it’s sad to say that you grow accustomed to all the violence that surrounds you. However, it doesn’t mean that you should be numb and turn a blind eye to it. On July 25, fourth grade school teacher and former Liberty roller-derby skater, Danecia “Nina Knockout” Berrian, and her one-year-old baby girl were brutally attacked in their home, suffering multiple stab wounds. Denecia is currently in stable condition, but her daughter is still in critical care. Things like this shouldn’t happen, especially to good people! If you’d like to help out, come out to World Café Live this evening for Rock Out for Knockout Benefit Show featuring Foxtrot & the Get Down, Billy Black, The Sideshow Prophets, and Chalk & The Beige Americans. In addition to ticket proceeds, donations will also be collected to help Danecia and her daughter through this tragic event in their lives that no one should experience. World Café Live, 3025 Walnut St., 7pm, $15, All Ages – H.M. Kauffman
