Ever since he released his solo masterpiece Boerum Palace, New York guitarist Steve Gunn has been receiving an endless amount of praise, which also holds true in the Philly music community. So it’s not surprising that the Kurt Vile affiliate has chosen Johnny Brenda’s to have a record release show for his latest effort Time Off. It’s the first album where the guitar legend leads an enigmatic trio. And while Gunn and New York’s Endless Boogie will be making this show one to see, local folk songwriter (and oddball tweeter) Psalmships, a.k.a. Joshua Britton, will most definitely impress as well. And as he gets closer and closer to releasing his latest EP Some Ships, Britton has also been refining newer songs at live shows. So tonight may be a suitable preview. Johnny Brenda’s, 1201 N.
