Every few months, the ultra-stylish hair salon Parlour and Juke throws a house party called "Live Cuts." Holding true to their namesake, the parties feature live music which elevates the Americana-chic Parlour into a juke joint. The most recent event on February 23rd boasted inclusive Yazoo brews and the tunes of Jacob Jones. While the beers ran out before everyone attending could redeem their allotted two, and the room felt like a sauna, the overall vibe was good. Jones played songs from his recently released Good Timin’ in Waynetown as well as some old standards. For those of you unfamiliar with Jones, he sticks closely to boogie-blues, opting to keep things classic instead of injecting any modern twists. The sounds were like being at the Enchantment Under the Sea Dance while Marty McFly plays "Johnny B. Goode," and the room felt like a fun backyard BBQ sponsored by Levi’s.

You can catch Jacob Jones live at the Third Shift Amber Lager presents: Nashville – the Official SXSW Send-Off show on March 2nd. –Jonathan Parrish
