The Textiles to play Pianos 2/4

Remember The Bravery? Well, they may be MIA, but there’s a new band in town producing a familiar vintage sound called The Textiles. The trio, hailing from Brooklyn by way of Chicago, have a decided new-wave influence, but their rock ‘n’ roll style makes you want to tap your feet and get up and dance. Their latest release, “Mood Revival,” is no exception (stream below), but The Textiles are a band to be experienced live, so catch them on February 4th when they play Pianos wit thelvnguage.-Jocelyn Huggler

Supertouch brings heavy jams to St. Vitus 1/19

The 90’s were a time filled with gritty, grungy, sloppy, yet wonderful alt-rock music and Supertouch was no exception. With a musical style in the vein of contemporaries like Mudhoney, Melvins, and Bad Brains, Supertouch still managed to have their own sound and left a mark on music with their powerful riffs and F-You demeanor. After reuniting in 2010 (and losing none of their 90s swagger) the band is still killing it and will hit St. Vitus with Into Another and High Discipline on January 19th. Meat Wave

Meat Wave released the first two singles from their forthcoming album, The Incessant, which is due out Feb 17th. The album was recorded by Steve Albini and will be released by SideOneDummy Records. The band also released a video for the led single “”Run You Out”.

The will be celebrating the release of the new album on Feb 25th at Empty Bottle with Paper Mice.

New Allison Crutchfield LP Available for Streaming

Allison Crutchfield first cut her teeth in music in high school, co-fronting The Ackleys with her sister Katie (of now Waxahatchee fame). They were later inspired to form pop-punk outfit P.S. Eliot after catching a So So Glos performance in their native home state of Alabama. Allison began appearing on The Deli Philly site with her band Swearin’, and later on charmed us with her lo-fi solo effort, Lean Into It. And after the initial spin of her new LP Tourist In This Town, via NPR Music’s First Listen, we are totally lovin’ it, and predict that 2017 is going to be a most excellent year for the talented artist. The album officially comes out January 27 via Merge Records, and her hometown record release show will be held on Friday, February 10 at the First Unitarian Church, where she’ll be joined by her backing band The Fizz, as well as good buddies Radiator Hospital, Pinkwash, Empath, and Try The Pie.

Hibbity Dibbity is a dance rock n’ roll group from San Francisco. They blend together sounds and styles from numerous genres to create feel-good music that will move you. They are clever, ecstatic, and riotous. Timeless, but kinda dirty. Pelting rhythms that make your feet move. Their new single “Touchy Feely," is a happy tune with a swoon-worthy chorus. Super tight; then loose in all the right places.

Daydream Machine Releases New Single – Modern Prophecy

Portland’s Daydream Machine has released a new neo-psych, single entitled, "Modern Prophecy." The band is gearing up to release their full length album, The Show Must Not Go On LP in March 2017 and features appearances by: The Dandy Warhols’ Peter Holmström, Federale’s Colin Sheridan, The Upsidedown’s Matt Moore, and M. Ward/Rick Bain keyboardist Nathan Junior. It’s been three years since we’ve seen anything from Daydream Machine so we’re super excited to see new music coming from them!

New Music Video: “Ricky (Caught Me Tryin’)” – The Spirit of the Beehive

We are happy to hear that The Spirit and the Beehive‘s highly anticipated forthcoming album, Pleasure Suck, now has an official release date. Due out March 24 via Tiny Engines, the band just shared the LP’s lead single, "Ricky (Caught Me Tryin’)". The track is also accompanied by a seriously tripped-out video, which came from the mind of Nnamdi Ogbonnaya. The Spirit and the Beehive will be performing next in Philly on February 20 at Baird Mansion Atrium as part of a rad lineup that also includes Naomi Punk, PC Worship, and Dark Mtns.

Halo Orbit release spacey new track “Trieste”, debut album out 2/3

There’s a profound sense of drift on "Trieste", Halo Orbit’s enigmatic new track, a nine minute textural voyage that ultimately leaves more questions than answers once it ends. The ambient instrumental begins with steady restraint, slowly intensifying its backdrop of modular sounds with shuffled percussion patterns coming from all directions. Once it hits the six minute mark it finally builds, but not in the way you’d expect, briefly doing so until it gradually subsides into a gentle ripple, ultimately circling back to where it started. It’s a daringly ambitious move for the veteran trio, who’ve in the past worked in bands like The Mars Volta, Buffalo Daugher and even the late David Bowie.

Halo Orbit, who see a home in Los Angeles, New York and Tokyo, are releasing their self-titled debut album on February 3rd via local imprint Alpha Pup. They’ll be making their live debut appearance at Low End Theory on February 15 before hitting the road in support of it. – Juan Rodríguez

Garage rockers Stuyedeyed to play Drexlers 1/24

Stuyedeyed is serving up brash and brazen rock music with a major vintage vibe. With fuzzy layers so thick you can practically wrap yourself up in them, the Brooklyn-based band delivers a serious 70s guitar rock feel and loads of lo-fi goodness. Their latest single, "Mr. Policeman," deals with the themes of the BLM movement, and is sonically as unhinged as ever, offering up feral sounding vocal lines that compliment the frustration embedded in the lyrical content.
