New Track: “The End of the World” – Port Arthur

Posted on:

A contagious melodic ripple about the unknown future, “The End of the World,” the latest single from Port Arthur, addresses serious subject matter in a breezy way. Exuding thoughtful, existential energy, the track speeds by in carefree, joyous fashion, while covering important ground. The value of personal connection stands out in the grand scheme, because its easy to get lost in the shuffle. Amid those deep contemplations, a fun, multi-faceted song flows. Sister duo Nalani & Sarina give indie pop a soulful twist with new LP “The Circle”

Posted on:

The release of duo Nalani & Sarina’s third full-length LP The Circle (May 2018) has brought these NJ-bred twins to the forefront of the DIY indie pop scene. As young songwriters, their masterful fusion of soul, rock, and mainstream pop combined with their familial ties has given their music a reputation for being both impressive as well as deeply personal. Their hit single “Young and Inexperienced” off their latest record has gained huge popularity due to its catchy folk rock influence, and has grown to be considered a representation of the millennial voice for its enlightened lyrics on post-college employment. Many of their songs have a witty storytelling charm that reflects on coming-of-age contents, supplementing their multi-faceted genre blend with meaningful and relatable lyrics. Their collaboration has fused their unique individual tastes to create music that has both traditional and contemporary roots, while gripping audiences with their appealing and accessible young flair. Check out Nalani & Sarina’s newest album The Circle on Spotify and stream their earlier recordings on Soundcloud. – Rebecca Carroll

Weekend Warrior, October 12 – 14

Posted on:

Today, Baby Steps, the new EP from the Kate Lord-led outfit Sleepy Freak, was released, and tomorrow evening, Horror Land will host a showcase of locals to mark the occasion. There’s both a sense of reflective imagination and the push toward adventure in these songs. An ongoing evolution runs a thread through the narratives that steadily simmer and ripple, leading way to a ripping cathartic release/realization. Gradually building tension through transparent vulnerability and melodically stacked progressions, these personal journeys lead you somewhere, while still hitting home. Sleepy Freak will also be joined by the bummer pop of Snowhore and lo-fi, sad folk of Puppy Angst, featuring Alyssa Milman (of Blushed). (Photo by Emily Dubin) – Michael Colavita

Queeva “Stand Out”

Posted on:

Queeva released a new single today called “Stand Out”. This is her second single of 2018, and follow-up to the hit “Live Like A Song”. This is the modern country sounds of fifteen year old (as of today, in fact) musician Queeva McDonagh. Through her music she places a priority on positivity and looks to use her success to be a positive role model.

If she is writing and performing songs like this at 15, the future is extremely bright for this, as of now, unsigned musician. She is definetly ready to "Stand Out".
