We’re excited to hear that Radiator Hospital is set to release a new LP, titled Music for Daydreaming, on May 10 via Salinas Records. On the latest album, the project’s mastermind Sam Cook-Parrott has decided to take on all the instrumental duties, which is reflected in his new video for the record’s lead single, "Weird Little Idea," directed by Adam Peditto. The footage appears to have been captured in the intimate confines of the First Unitarian Church’s Side Chapel. Radiator Hospital is heading out on tour in May with Big Nothing in support of Music for Daydreaming, and will be returning home to PhilaMOCA on Tuesday, May 21 for the album’s Philly release celebration.
A rawness permeates the entirety of Supsine Butterfly, the debut full length by Brooklyn trio Ewe Dew. It’s a product of the band’s instrumentation, which veers from traditional folk punk into mathy, off-kilter acoustic segues on a dime, as well as the raw lyricism of frontman Christian Brion. Standout track “Wild Oats” is a pertinent example of Ewe Dew’s strengths, beginning with an antique metaphor of youth before transition to an impassioned, stream of consciousness narrative, highlighted by track’s shifting time signature and modulation between electric and acoustic textures. These dynamic changes make for engaging listening on Suspine Butterfly, and promises even more experimentation on Ewe Dew’s forthcoming second LP Birds Alight, dropping later this spring. Until then, stream them below. -Connor Beckett McInerney (@b_ck_tt)
Absolutely Not has released two remixes from their recent album Problematic. They gave local duo Visceral Anatomy the task of reworking “Bottom of the Pit”, and they gave Austin’s Noise Punk band Super Thief the task of tackling “Glitch”.

While King Calaway have clout in the mainstream music scene — with solo careers, American Idol appearances, and international performances under each of the members’ belts — their debut self-titled album established them as one of Nashville’s newest bands on the rise. The band’s first single "World For Two" has a sound that layers the soul of Ed Sheeran with the harmony and richness of Little Big Town, a sound that permeates every word and note that comes out of the band’s music. The six-member King Calaway has members from both sides of the Atlantic, so while on a surface listen their songs might sound like pure Americana, there is a universal appeal to them that will delight fans of all good music around the globe. Take a look at the music video for "World For Two" below. – Will Sisskind

Bands like New York’s own BIG HUGE seem to exist sometimes for the single purpose of making you remember the past, only to suddenly find yourself relishing in its fascination. Power pop was an American counterpunch to the British Invasion of the ’60s and in their 2017 record CRUEL WORLD BIG HUGE channels it beautifully. With the fun and upbeat tempos of power pop heroes like Cheap Trick well ingrained into songs like “WENT BAD” and “LOST CLASSIC” the group takes full liberty to crank up the style to one hundred with fuzzy vocals and crunchy guitar licks that will shine proto-garage undertones at you. This New York City quintet remains above everything faithful to themselves, catch them on April 15th at Brooklyn Bazaar. – Rene Cobar
Ben Loomis is the recording project of Matt Roth. Roth’s recent collaboration with Pulgas’s Simon Martinez resulted in the EP Hoss Flat, a small but robust collection of songs released back in December. Frogs picks up from where Roth left off, inviting the listener into an array of modest pop tunes that exhibit slick grooves, crisp production, and a sophisticated sonic palette. Each track begins with a hook, immediately drawing you in and spurring a curiosity to hear out how the songs will evolve. The EP showcases Roth’s uncanny ability to explore genre conventions with a lucidity that gracefully lands each musical leap of faith; each track continually advances into new territories without feeling like the narrative is being stretched too thin. TANGIENTS unleash their primal fury on "Hazel." The duo of Chelsea Ray and Be Hussey are not for slow-builds—their confrontational post-punk immediately shoots off with a tribal roar over an enrapturing guitar lead. Led by Ray’s commanding vocal acrobatics, "Hazel" emanates a visceral energy that is shrouded in mystery and seduction. They push forth a rich, full sound that is far greater than their two-piece setup.
The duo is playing at The Echo on March 19 alongside TEEN and Methyl Ethel. Check out "Hazel" below. Juan Rodríguez
