Urbane singer-songwriter Adir L.C. premieres single “Big Bad,” plays Our Wicked Lady BK 04.26

Posted on:

The music of Brooklyn singer-songwriter Adir L.C. has a worldly sound to it that integrates its more traditional folk elements, a result perhaps of his frequent trips across the U.S. and far beyond. The Israeli-born artist’s latest single “Big Bad” (streaming) kicks off with a burst of percussions that quickly comes to a halt, opening up space for acoustic guitars that ring with serenity. As Adir begins to sing, the intimacy of the setting may remind you of a friend who has a story to tell, someone with a rich past but who’s not done growing and learning. The song slowly grows to incorporate a full arrangement, including a brass section that lifts the chorus to the song’s climax, without ever losing its earnest folk quality. The single forms part of Adir’s second full-length record release Basket Star, which is due out May 17th, and promises to further expose the troubadour’s thoughts on life between New York and Tel Aviv. Catch Adir L.C. performing at Our Wicked Lady in Brooklyn on April 26th. – Rene Cobar

Debut Faucet EP Available for Streaming & Purchase

Posted on:

Recorded & mixed by Hank Byerly, Heliotrope is the debut EP from the quartet of Faucet. A graceful observational/contemplative duality radiates from these songs as a personal search matriculates throughout the album. Vocally, a sense of balance and calm guides, as one negotiates emotive circumstances. Tranquility and friction come together, creating a sound that one can naturally turn towards.

New Thin Lips EP Available for Streaming & Purchase

Posted on:

In the midst of touring in support of Camp Cope, Thin Lips van fell into disrepair. The funds generated from the band latest EP Carrot Milk (which is currently available for "name your price" via the Bandcamp) will aid in alleviating that financial burden. It’s a stripped-down sound for the rockers, putting the vulnerability of their songs on display. Through processing grief and consistently fine-tuning one’s personal framework, a freedom and strength emerges. Each day has the potential to be a fresh start/new beginning. You can catch the power trio with Camp Cope and Oceanator this Saturday, April 27 at First Unitarian Church.

David Darrko “Faded”

Posted on:

Romantic Pop signer David Darrko has released a new single called “Faded”. This is Darrko’s second single of 2019 follow-up last month’s “Cruise” .

When asked about the meaning the song Darrko had this to say. "There was a period last summer when I was intermittently using the different dating apps and got caught up. You can swipe your way to a quick endorphin high, but a series of fleeting moments still doesn’t lead to anything remotely satisfying long term – at least for me. Sometimes my married friends tell me they miss the freedom and spontaneity of single life, but I think it’s a "grass is always greener" thing. I just tell them to stay on their lawn, ‘cause out here the grass is dried up and full of weeds, trust me."

Singer-songwriter Taylor Kelly crafts smooth seamless lyrical lines on her latest single, “JWYTK”. A soulful warmth radiates despite being the bearer of bad breakup news. Locked into the ever-expanding groove, one becomes invigorated by the soul-jazz hybrid. Within those apologetic tones, an optimism emerges, brought into the light by the compact, richly detailed, instrumental arrangement.

Superblonde’s “Stay Dumb” is the drumbeat of our uncertain times

Posted on:

Let the antipathy wash over you on Superblonde’s new record Stay Dumb, an eight track hardcore symposium on fatalism and self-doubt. From fire starter “Learning To Burn’s” introductory lyrics (“our lives are over”) to the allegorical title track “Stay Dumb” (“I’m… like a fly on a sundial with no wings, no real desire to leave”) to shredded closer “Chüb,” the scope of Superblonde’s philosophical outlook comes at the behest of frontman Ryan Richardson’s shrewd, meticulous lyrics. While the content is often bleak, a close reading shows Richardson’s worldview is at times ambivalent, recognizing the difficulty of change, in both a personal and cultural capacity, but acknowledging it is possible. Parred with floor tom destroying percussion and ear ringing guitar work, Stay Dumb is a cathartic album for the increasingly uncertain times we live in.
