Kami Maltz drops video for new single “Kingdom”; plays The Owl Music Parlor on 05.10

Posted on:

Kami Maltz has wowed listeners with her smooth voice, her blending of folk and electronic elements, and her ability to craft songs about complex emotions through catchy hooks and poetic lyrics. Her new single "Kingdom" has all of that; it dropped last week and has already started to gain some traction on streaming services. The Deli now premieres the track’s video, which Maltz filmed with an all-female crew over the course of one day. The rainy day atmosphere of the video adds to Maltz’s lyrics about romance and the soft arrangement of the track. If you want to catch Maltz live, she’ll perform at the Owl Music Parlor in Prospect Lefferts Gardens on May 10. Until then, catch the premiere of the video for "Kingdom" below. – Will Sisskind

The album is a departure from Chris’ 2017 solo debut album, “Hello, I’m Chris Twist”, which was filled with the DIY LoFi Rock that he has come be known by as Slushy.

New Swim Camp LP Available for Streaming & Purchase

Posted on:

Barlow Hill, the new album from Tom Morris-led Swim Camp, is out now via Z Tapes. A innate, intimacy takes shelter in his latest release. Adorned in a sense of time-worn nostalgia, the delicate combination of beautifully subtle, folk instrumentation and genuine, memory-recalling lyrics brings the record’s imageries into sharper focus. One is temporarily transported back with vivid, familiar detail, yet the wisdom of time & experience remains.

Teen Body Share New Album ‘Dreamo’

Posted on:

Dreampop continues to evolve in a variety of unexpected ways, with Brooklyn’s Teen Body adding an emo element to it on their latest album “Dreamo” via NYC label Broken Circles. As the album title combines those two descriptive genres into one single word, so does the music represented on the eight songs it contains. “Fell Off” immediately strikes a wistful mood through melancholic chords and Shannon Lee’s syrupy vocals. “Act Yr Age” opts for a more angular progression to support its over six minutes in length and lyrically dense story on the complications of romantic relationships. “Ballad of Tomboy Jerry” continues the record’s pattern of initially restrained instrumentation that ultimately builds to a crescendo, combined with Ms Lee’s poignant voice. Bassist Xela French provides the storytelling on “The Draag,” while both singers shine in tandem on the uptempo single “Validation.” The titletrack pulls all of these elements together via exultant guitar hooks, deep resonant bass, slow-groove drumming and those emotive tandem vocals. You can access “Dreamo” through the various listening services here. – Dave Cromwell

New Music Video: “Holy Moses” (Feat. Lesley Barth) – American Trappist

Posted on:

“Holy Moses” is the new single from American Trappist, and can be found on Joe Michelini’s forthcoming EP Amuse-Oreille, Vol. 2. The track features NYC singer-songwriter Lesley Barth, and in the accompanying video, you find a disheveled Michelini drunkenly strolling towards the camera, sipping on some Tonewood Brewing. A breezy, humid, spring/summer-evening vibe sets the tone. However, that sense of ease is countered by the heaviness of guilt and seeking forgiveness, expressed in the lyrics. American Trappist is slated to co-headline Johnny Brenda’s on Saturday, June 29 with The Vernes and additional support from Grace Vonderkuhn.

Will Fox shares reflective new video, “Waiting”

Posted on:

Time is rushing for Will Fox—and he’s content just letting it move like a slow breeze. On the video for his latest, "Waiting," the folk-rock singer-songwriter ambles and plays his guitar around a beautiful countryside alongside scenic, time-lapsed photography. Fox’s mellifluous croon is both pronounced and mysterious, a gentle coo that brushes over his warm, lilting arrangements. He moves past his lament with calm self-reflection, letting the nature that surrounds him fill him with some wisdom and understanding.

"Waiting" is the first single off Fox’s debut full-length album, Which Way, due out July 12 on Twosyllable Records. He’s performing at Love Song Bar with fellow Los Angeles Police Department band colleague Ryan Pollie on May 18. Juan Rodríguez

The Beach Bats – New Record “Last Resort” Exclusive Premiere!

Posted on:

Hamilton beach rockers The Beach Bats are getting’ set to release their first full length album “Last Resort”. The record opens up with their lead single “How Long” which shows the band slowing down the pace a bit with a Jim Morrison swagger in the vocals. “Tropical Illusions” definitely brings the holiday vibes with a dash of psychedelics mixed with the spacious guitars. “Cursed” has an atmospheric keyboard lick start it off before settling into a head-nodding beat with a really groovy bassline. This track reminds me of some Red Hot Chili Peppers with the way the rhythm section stays together and the guitars float along on their own but still in sync with the rest of the instruments. Singer/Multi-Instrumentalist Tony Doni has certainly expanded his vocal style recently for the Beach Bats along with the aforementioned Morrison influences he is also hitting some lower range Scott Weiland notes which adds a cool dynamic to their surf inspired tunes. The Beach Bats hit the road to show off their new album visiting Hamilton, London, Montreal, Ottawa and the Toronto show kicks it off on Thursday April 25th at the Piston. "Last Resort" is available everywhere on Friday April 26th! – Kris Gies
