Named after one of the greatest Simpson’s episodes of all time; Tomacco is a funky 4 piece garage band from Toronto. Their latest single “Mister Twister” shows off all their goods. The rhythm keeps the funk goin’ while the keys add a psychedelic tone to the track. It has an early 90’s vibe that makes me think Tomacco would fit in on the same bill as Blood Sugar Sex Magik era Chili Peppers and Ugly Kid Joe perhaps. Their EP “Vagabond” is available now. They will be playing The Atria in Oshawa on September 20th alongside Revive the Rose, The Hostiles, The Jailbirds and No Service. – Kris Gies

Cosmic Analog Blue unleashes a sonic tornado in new single “Through the Underpass”
Cosmic Analog Blue is a group that cannot hide its exotic nature: the group’s charming-bizarre blend of country, rock, orchestral, and Americana is served real thick and chill. The band’s latest single “Through the Underpass” begins with relaxed acoustic guitar strums and twangy vocals that pave the way for grand string instrument swells and eruptive drums; all instruments rise in volume to create a sonic tornado you find yourself chasing. The breakdowns are exquisite and are telling of the Boston group’s penchant for creativity and free-flow combined with the precise organization to make it all work. The funky group released a self-titled EP back in 2018, and if this new single is any indication, the group is heating up again. We are streaming “Through the Underpass” for you below. – Rene Cobar
Shining Mirrors Releases New Single, “Johanna”
Drew Robinson’s project Shining Mirrors draws attention for reimagining the decadent folk-rock developed in historic NYC venues when the epicenter of the city’s rock’n’roll was still Manhattan’s West village. The third "folkier" Velvet Underground album resonates in single "Joanna," mixed with echoes of, perhaps, the Kinks and Pavement. The group dropped their debut EP in 2017, but this new single, a preview of their sophomore release, gives the impression that the sonic cards have been thoroughly shuffled – check the band’s Facebook page for news about the release date. – Susan Moon
Debut Sheena, Anika and Augusta EP Available for Streaming & Purchase
Sheena, Anika and Augusta, a.k.a. Sheena Ozzella (Lemuria), Anika Pyle (Katie Ellen, Chumped), and Augusta Koch (Cayetana, Gladie) recently dropped their debut EP Simple Pleasures. Mellifulous harmonies are the foundation for aching vignettes. These four soul-searching tracks can now be found via San Jose, CA’s Asian Man Records. The Philly trio has also moved its previously scheduled performance at TRUCK this Saturday, September 14 to Ortlieb’s, where they will be joined by Hemming, The Goodbye Party, Jordyn Occhipinti, and the poetry of Sean Kearney.
Tate & Silas offer a heavy dose of indie-folk music, play Space Ballroom 10.05
Tate & Silas released their latest record Different Worlds back in June, and in doing so, they gifted the world with a pure and super-concentrated indie-folk alternative. The approach is simple: electric guitar strums so clean you can almost breathe them in like rich oxygen, and minimalist vocal deliveries that tell stories about town life. In songs like “Overblown” you have rapid and thumping rhythms that are sprinkled with rich piano notes, and in tracks like “Sick” just pure indie guitar-lick goodness. The duo from New Haven makes each track seamless as it moves on to the next without ever allowing for monotonousness to creep in; the fluidity of the music is a testament to their easy-listening approach that soothes. Tate & Silas are scheduled to play at the Space Ballroom in Hamden, CT on October 5th. We are streaming the title track below for your enjoyment. – Rene Cobar

Barrio Manouche releases new single, video, “La Leyenda Del Tiempo”
Today Barrio Manouche released “La Leyenda Del Tiempo” with its accompanying, dizzying video. The vibrant and electric flamenco jazz fusion septet provides a tremendous listening experience and live? They’re in a whole other world. Look around the room and at a Barrio Manouche show and you’ll see shoulders, toes, legs, hands, eyes, dancing in rhythm together. And that’s exactly what their music is meant to do: bond people from across cultures and rhythms and create fusions that are otherworldly. “La Leyenda Del Tiempo” was written and made famous by Camarón de La Isla and is now in a fresh rendition. Enjoy their video here and check them at The New Parish on October 26, where they’ll be releasing their next album. –Michelle Kicherer, Associate Editor

Indigo Bunting Conjures Upbeat Euphoria on “White Noise”
In the city of eclectic talent, Austin Texas, Indigo Bunting is an art-pop trio that stands out to the crowd. They have a unique sound with calming vocals and upbeat instrumental, that fills your soul with euphoria and bliss. Giving us another dose of their music, the trio recently just dropped a new single.
“White Noise(Don’t be a Winner)”; giving off 60’s vibes and harmonic voices with new and modern sound effects. Perfect for soothing car rides no matter where one is at, or going. As if listeners could not get enough there is a side B to the new single with the same dreamy attitude.
“I don’t Mind”; will leave one happy and sad all at once. The lyrics are beautifully articulated and connected. Cannot help but notice how the vocals and instrumental counteract each other so well. These two tracks go along with Indigo Bunting’s new and upcoming album.
Be ready for the trio’s album coming out later this fall, as it will be just as interesting and enjoyable as “White Noise(Don’t be a Winner)/ I don’t Mind”. Lifting spirits with their old but new, experimental sounds. Even though the summer has come to an end, extend it with the sun soaked music brought to you by Indigo Bunting.
