On her Soundcloud profile, NYC RnB artist Miranda Inzunza says she "lowkey, wants to be the female Drake" and, although she still has a loooong way to go, she might be on the right path. Her output to date bears some sonic but mostly thematic (the lady doesn’t rap) resemblances to the music of the self described "God of Toronto." Floating on gracefully produced atmospheric tracks flirting with trip hop and ambient, her vocals have the perfect weight to them, allowing her lyrics, often about the pitfalls of relationships, to feel completely genuine, rather than sappy or overwrought. On her latest "Take (feat. JAHS)" she sings over airy, electronic and slightly trappy production about a partner that only "takes, takes, takes;" the beat perfectly emphasizes the vocals/lyrics and vice versa. Our favorit track ‘The Beginning’ (streaming below) is a dreamy electronic track expressing the love for the initial stages of relationships. I was at Otis Mountain Get Down this weekend in Elizabethtown, NY, and the band Khruangbin headlined Saturday night and provided me with one of the best musical experiences of my entire life. Aside from the fact that Otis is my favorite music festival, this was just the most amazing psych-rock band to see late at night. They’re a trio from Houston, Texas, and they draw inspiration from the late-’60s psychedelic funk stylings of Thailand. They had an amazing vibe, and incredibly subtle-yet-tight drummer (think Bernard Purdie), and the flyest guitar sounds. 

It’s also worth mentioning that Otis is an incredible music festival. The curator, Quillan George, lives in Oregon now but went to college in Burlington and was/is a big part of the music curation scene there. The whole lineup was stellar. The band Lewis Del Mar (on the cover of The Deli’s 2016 SXSW issue) was also really amazing. – Dan Rome

Pair up Jimi Hendrix’s penchant for psychedelia and Luda’s gravelly inflection and you get a close approximation to the Jersey-cum-Queens rapper affectionately known as Googie. Prolific member of the intrepid Karma Kids label, Goog’s newest album ‘Tis What ‘Tis builds on an already impressive catalog of work with a tighter, more polished, and enthralling release. The Deli is proud to premiere his new video for “Big Mouth Arcade.” Produced by Blockhead, this banger is a glimpse at his mania via the streets of his West New York neighborhood. ‘Tis What ‘Tis is available here. – BrokeMc

With their elegant blend of bluegrass, folk, and chamber music, Brooklyn indie-folk band Goldfeather is on a mission to enchant you with a perfectly interlaced entourage of instruments. Sarah Goldfeather’s violin, Nathan Koci’s banjo and accordion, Dylan McKinstry’s mandolin, Katie Martucci’s guitar, and Pat Swoboda’s double bass surround the sweet-sounding vibrancy of Sarah’s vocals with  dream-like arrangements. The band’s signature three-part vocal harmony serves to heighten Sarah’s fluctuating melodies, resolve musical tension, and add a rich texture to the group’s overall sound. You can experience Goldfeather live at Rockwood Music Hall on September 19th, when they’ll celebrate the release of their debut album Patchwork Quilt. – Ashley E. Muniz

We are here, desperately tapping the big HELP button on our Life Alert pendant because the latest release from NYC’s Bangladeafy has left us bowled over on the floor. Narcopaloma, the band’s newest EP, is an unrelenting chaos machine, delivering proggy riffage at its absolute best–there’s not a single passage on here that feels either half baked or overworked. The duo of Jon Ehlers and Atif Haq also drop such technically intense licks that any four-piece band would be left eating their dust. Make no mistake, Narcopaloma is a mammoth work (well deserving of multiple listens), but it manages to feel consistently innovative rather than overly indulgent. The record kicks off with "Termites," a frenzied, sonic bomb that deals in both sledge-hammer, driving, brutishness, and jazzy, finessed grooves. "Act Like An Adult," the album’s third track, bursts its way through melodies, and puts Haq’s slick drum chops on full display. The EP’s devilish bends and turns culminate in "Trillionaire," a tune that somehow forges the band’s melodic mathcore affection with Latin-feel ostinato. It’s an unlikely match, but then again, there’s nothing predictable about this band.
