This evening is the kickoff to the Northern Liberties Winter Music Festival that will run from February 10 – 15 at The Fire. The night will be headlined by legendary avant-garde jazz saxophonist Marshall Allen (of Sun Ra Arkestra), who will be supported by the likes of Alumbrados (featuring members of Bardo Pond) and the always angst-filled, politically-charged Camae Defstar (The Mighty Paradocs, Moor Mother Goddess). You’ll also find local favorites such as Suburban Living, Shorty boy-boy, McRad, Roof Doctor, Legs Like Tree Trunks, Family Vacation, Abi Reimold, and more performing throughout the week. This year’s festival is presented by Philadelphia Brewing Company. The Fire, 412 W. Girard Ave., 8pm, $10, 21+ – H.M. Kauffman
