We’ve always been fans of the danceable, hard rockin’ trio Pony Pants so we were obviously happy to learn two-thirds of the band are back with a new project called Heavy Sons. Emily “J.K.” Kovach and Ryan Ellis have returned, but gone are bro Steve Ellis and their drum machine replaced by Jordan Perry on the “beefy axe” and flesh and blood drummer Patrick Murray. The grunge-y metal-tinged heavy guitar riffs still remain, but judging from their debut demos, you’ll find the new four-piece leaning more towards straight-up pedal to the floor rock than the “bedroom dance party” that Pony Pants might have induced in the past. But it’s still unpretentious and honest as ever. You can check out one of their three new demos (below) entitled “60 whats” as well as the rest of them HERE.
