While Slugger, the new album from Sad13 (a.k.a. Sadie Dupuis of Speedy Ortiz), won’t be officially released via Carpark Records until November 11, it can currently be heard in advance below via NPR Music’s First Listen. These songs shimmer while delving into the incisive, relationship-detailing, personal anecdotes and exploring complex issues of gender roles, equality, marginalization, etc. It’s a bright collection of music illuminating big picture social issues through concise layers of lyrical depth.
