We are proud to announce that our friends at Loves Local Music will be presenting on Saturday May 12, 2012 the inaugural Philadelphia Local Music Day, where local businesses throughout Philadelphia will be playing the recordings of five featured local bands in their establishments for one full workday. Philadelphia Local Music Day aims to bring awareness to Philly’s vibrant, talented arts community and encourage fellow Philadelphians to support the city’s local culture and economy. The five local acts chosen to be featured this year are Work Drugs, Buried Beds, The Extraordinaires, Cheers Elephant, and Bandname, and you will be able to hear their music all day in some of our favorite haunts like Federal Donuts, Honey’s Sit ‘n Eat, Johnny Brenda’s, The Abbaye, Honest Tom’s Taco Shop, The Marvelous! Music Record Store, Rocket Cat Café, Trophy Bikes Garage, Lola Bean, Ultimo Coffee, Green Aisle Grocery, Repo Records, Smak Parlour, and Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction.
Loves Local Music is an advocacy organization dedicated to promoting the diverse music scene that Philadelphia continues to foster. By building relationships between local musicians, businesses, artists, and innovators, Loves Local Music aims to plan creative events that give local musicians more exposure within the Philadelphia community.
