Le Fits are celebrating the arrival of their third LP Fisticuffs (recorded at Hi5 Studio) with an accompanying record release show this evening at Johnny Brenda’s. Le Fits sweep one in with their suave demeanor grooves that wash over you like a cold drink after a particularly difficult day. The band develops a fleshed out vibrant pop-rock sound spiked with horns for additional zest. Ben Riesman toes that threshold of pseudo-spoken vocals, smoothly speaking and slyly roping you in as these well-rounded songs grab hold and still maintain an organic loose feel. They are tied neatly together but with plenty of room to breathe. The custom whiskey-barrel growling, foot-stomping folk-blues of TJ Kong and the Atomic Bomb will be headlining on this night, returning home after a series of southern dates that included a run at SXSW. Dan Bruskewicz’s authoritative snarly narratives cut a path through the backwoods to a modernized juke joint. The soulful folk, brother-sister-led Bernhardt Family Band kicks off the festivities.
