Today, the 28th of August 2013, has been declared “Kurt Vile Day” by Mayor Nutter. As part of the celebration, the incendiary guitarist/musical Renaissance man will receive the liberty award, the premier honor presented by the City of Philadelphia to a citizen in recognition of his/her professional accomplishments and generosity. After receiving the award, Vile will perform a solo set as part of the City Hall presents free concert series. Get to the courtyard early and celebrate the city’s indie music darling.
