How do you top an incredible music experience like playing drums for a critically acclaimed indie-rock band like Dr. Dog? You travel across the country on a motorcycle to record music with members of bands like Wilco, Spoon, and Apollo Sunshine. That’s exactly what Juston Stens did for the past few years when he wasn’t collaborating with the rotating cast of contributors in The Get Real Gang. The end result of that is the new documentary film I Lay Where I Fall, which documents his bold and exciting journey. And in the spirit of that adventure, he also recorded a new LP, Share the Road, that was nearly half a decade in the making. It showcases his collaborations with the likes of Jessica Lea Mayfield, David Vandervelde, and members of his former Dr. Dog family. The album release party is happening this evening at The Boot & Saddle, where Stens will be jamming with his Get Real crew. They’ll also be joined by pals Goodnight Lights, who most recently released their 3rd full-length, As Far As The Moon, and a music video for the track “Yardwork.” The Boot & Saddle, 1131 S.
