Jonwayne has quickly become a familiar face at Low End Theory with his mix of sharp tones and flashbacks to Nintendo games. This week, the beatmaker is celebrating the release of his newest EP, titled "The Death of Andrew." While the music is not as morose as one would expect for such a title, songs like "Pillars of Sand" and Immobile" do contain some dramatic instrumentation and heavy beats. Jonwayne has a tendency to introduce transitions that catch listeners off guard. A major one occurs on "King," which starts as a stripped-down track, but then is joined by a razor-edged organ sound. The effect on this track creates a vivid image of a sinister underworld. However, other tracks are more game-like with airy melodies. Taking into account that Jonwayne was a spoken word artist before becoming a beatmaker, he brings a fitting light to his command on flow. – Karla Hernández
