Hurry to First Unitarian Church this evening. Matt Scottoline (of Everyone Everywhere) bookended by Joe (Psychic Teens) and Rob (ex-Univox) DeCarolis, a.k.a. the band Hurry, are celebrating the release of their new LP Everything/Nothing via Hot Green Records. The album injects bright, punchy rockers approached from an intimate point of view; balancing infectious songs with a strong instrumental backbone, Hurry’s blend of personal exuberance is an excellent way to jumpstart your weekend. Tonight, they will be joined by the tight-sounding, pop-punk-inflected Algernon Cadwallader offshoot, Dogs on Acid. An additional twist thrown into the mix is that Bleeding Rainbow will be performing in a throwback two-piece setup, which we hear might be be a more common occurrence with the departure of guitarist Al Creedon and drummer Ashley Arnwine. The unabashed, attitude-expressive rock of The Cats opens the celebration. First Unitarian Church, 2125 Chestnut St., 8pm, $8, All Ages (Photo by Ally Newbold) – Michael Colavita
