Yes, Grandchildren have a big show coming up on May 1 at the TLA with Peter, Bjorn & John, but bigger isn’t always better. They’ll be taking their skittish prog-pop, with its densely-orchestrated mish-mash of organic and electronic elements to a “slightly” smaller stage this evening at one of our favorite watering holes, Kung Fu Necktie, which is probably how I’d prefer it. And joining them on tonight’s spectacular bill will be the dark Americana of Brooklyn’s O’Death (who they’ve been touring with) and the languid summer strains of Philly’s own Arches. You can see why there is a reason to get pretty pumped up for this evening’s show! But that doesn’t mean I won’t be at the TLA as well. Cheers! Kung Fu Necktie, 1250 N. Front St., 8pm, $10, 21+ – H.M. Kauffman
