Gemini Wolf & Oh! Pears Get Experimental at KFN Aug. 19

Gemini Wolf is quite an interesting and versatile group. Lead by the duo of improvisers/singers Pandar and Mikronesia, the outfit is made up of an ever-changing lineup of all-star Philadelphia musician who create a unique blend of afro-beat, krautrock, ambient, and folk music that can only be described as Gemini Wolf. The band’s latest LP, Infinite Sand Dunes, is their most experimental effort yet. Side one features a 4 song suite with vocals, while side two is an instrumental journey reminiscent of the band’s hiking trip/recording session in a desert. Also on the bill is Oh! Pears , a baroque pop outfit lead by Corey Duncan, former Pattern Is Movement guitarist. Duncan is back on the Philly stage after his trek through Europe earlier this summer with highlights like opening for and hanging with TV on the Radio (who are “officially the nicest band” that he ever met) and lowlights like his car breaking down in Italy (but there are truly worst places for that to happen, right?). Looking forward to seeing which versions of these fine acts show up to perform at Kung Fu Necktie this evening. Kung Fu Necktie, 1250 N. Frankford Ave,$8, 7:30 pm, 21+Dan Brightcliffe
