Tonight at Kung Fu Necktie features two premier local acts Creepoid and Arches, as well as Grand Rapids, MI’s Shores and Richmond, VA’s the Diamond Center. Creepoid’s mix of dreamy psychedelic folk and aggressive grudge sounds have made them one of the most buzz-worthy bands in the city, and their live show does not disappoint. I have personally witnessed the aftermath of destruction left on stage by their intense live performance. On the other side of the dream pop psychedelic spectrum is Arches. The group’s sound has been compared to the vocal harmonies of the Beach Boys, and the lush orchestral arrangements of Grizzly Bear, but still remains rooted in guitar-based indie rock. The evening is hosted by Phonographic Arts (whose booking is currently run by Creepoid’s drummer Pat Troxell so get in touch if you are interested in performing at one of their showcases). Be sure to head on over to KFN for an intense musical journey. Kung Fu Necktie, 1250 N.
