Favours – Fresh Indie Synth Tune “In The Night”

Posted on:

Favours are a fresh synth pop band out of Hamilton. They recently released their debut single and music video for “In The Night”. I really enjoy the synth hook that kicks off the tune. The simplicity of the rhythm section is perfect to allow yourself to be consumed by the song. I also dig the dual vocals throughout. It carries a beautiful eeriness with it. Very tight track from Favours. See them in Toronto on September 22nd at the Monarch Tavern along with Sean Nicholas Savage and Nyssa. – Kris Gies

The Effens – Glum/Grunge “Half” Music Video

Posted on:

Toronto glam grungers The Effens have released a new EP “Burn Blush” on Lootbag Records. They also dropped a new music video for the single “Half”. This track has a dark, lazy opening that slowly escalates to the droning yet catchy chorus. This tune is a real 90’s throwback that’s like a creepier Stone Temple Pilots. The emotional intensity grows throughout the song ending with a very powerful chorus. “Burn Blush” EP available at their store. – Kris Gies

Lush Buffalo – Grunge Destruction in “Munson” Music Video

Posted on:

Toronto grungers Lush Buffalo released a brand new music video earlier this summer for their latest single “Munson”. This track is catchy and leans more towards the alt-rock side of their grunge sound. They’re just lightly accepting a little pop punk influence which is cool and helps add a bit of an extra earworm. They cause serious destruction in this video and you can witness similar distruction live at Monarch Tavern on August 22nd when Lush Buffalo performs with The Take, Day Trip and Blue Dream. – Kris Gies

Kaleidoscope Horse – Theatrical Dream Pysch Band release new single “Behaviour”

Posted on:

Theatrical dream-psych band Kaleidoscope Horse have released a new epic video for their track “Behaviour”. Produced by Brandon Bak and Tobin Hopwood (from Possum) with cinematography by Slone Mcgowan; this video is filled with unusual characters, a mesmerizing space age pysch-rock song and an overall calm chaos throughout. The video is as ambitious as the song itself. Both extremely creative. Behold Kaleidoscope Horse for yourself live at their “Slow, Slow” Album Release Party at the Super Wonder Gallery on August 23rd. – Kris Gies

Shade – Sign to Sleepless Records, Release “Controller” Single

Posted on:

Recently signed to Sleepless Records; Shade is a powerful Hamilton 5 piece that blend 90’s Britpop with pure fuzzed out grunge. They just dropped their first single “Controller”. This tune has a very catchy riff that gets better every time you hear it. The vocals weave through the song as if Liam Gallagher was possessed by the devil. The track actually sounds like an evil b-side from ‘Definitely Maybe’. They have more tunes in the can so we just have to wait patiently for more Shade! See em live at Hamilton’s Supercrawl during the weekend of September 13-16. – Kris Gies

Bo Welland – “Crack Change” Music Video Premiere!

Posted on:

The Deli Toronto is pleased to premiere the new music video from indie-rockers Bo Welland. Shawn Kosmo of Here Kitty Kitty Productions worked as the videographer for this basement rockin’ video. It was nice of the drummer to take off his hoodie and expose the deadly old Stars jersey. “Crack Change” is the title track from their upcoming EP. The new EP shows off the band exploring deeper sonic landscapes which can be heard in this track with the varying moods and dynamics. Bo Welland plays Friday August 3rd at the Horseshoe Tavern along with The Kitch and Liam Martini. – Kris Gies

Christian & the Sinners – Nick Cave meets Brian Jonestown Massacre!

Posted on:

“Sounds like Joe Strummer and Nick Cave in a knife fight at Johnny Cash’s house” is how Christian & the Sinners describe themselves. The dark, brooding vocal styles of Cave are very apparent in their latest single “Blood on the Frozen Sand”. With guitars sounding like  the Brian Jonestown Massacre, that’s a pretty stellar combo. This single available on their bandcamp page ahead of their October 1st release of “The Perversion of Something Good” EP. – Kris Gies

Delta Days are a country/rock band from Hamilton. Their latest record “A Round Town” was released earlier this year. Their sound is easy-going, laid-back rock n’ roll. They have a nice twang giving them a unique country blend in their rock n’ roll jams. The album features former Harlan Pepper guitar player Jimmy Hayes III on pedal steel. Goosebump – Release Party at Lula Lounge 07.26

Posted on:

Goosebump are a groovy new band from Toronto. They have just released a new self-titled record which features the single “She Don’t Say Goodbye”. This tune is catchy from the second it starts. The disco rhythm section will keep your toes tappin’ and head noddin’. The way the rest of the instruments bring the song together is quite fascinating in it’s execution. Goosebump is having a record release party at Lula Lounge on July 26th along with Chandra Persons and Cosmic Resonance DJ’s. – Kris Gies

Patiohawk – “So Long” Video, Smiling Buddha 07.20

Posted on:

A fresh, new band from Toronto; Patiohawk blends indie rock with the blues. They released an album last year titled “Toastmaker” which contains the track “So Long”. This track features a nice acoustic riff. They might be goin’ for a “Going to California” by Zeppelin vibe on this track. It’s a mellow and conscious track which would give the album variety along with their more upbeat blues rock tunes. Patiohawk plays the Smiling Buddha on July 20th with Piines, The Micronite Filters and Nick Vescio. – Kris Gies

Born in Edmonton, now living in Toronto; Kapri is a soulful dance artist known for her passionate performances and show stopping charisma. Last year she released her first single “Deeper”. The video is shot in a cool area of Toronto around Dundas/Bathurst known for its international food stalls and shows Kapri showing off her style and dance moves with the local crowd. The tune has a real throwback vibe to 90’s RnB with inspirations from Janet Jackson and Kylie Minogue. All around great track/video worthy of radio spins around the country. – Kris Gies

London Stone – “Neon Blind” EP, Bovine 07.18

Posted on:

London Stone are an interesting Toronto 4 piece rock band. On the surface I hear alternative rock with a hint of grunge. They have dance elements to their tunes as well which can be heard in the track “In Your Head”. The verses especially have a groovy style to them. The chorus comes in with a more epic arena rock sound. This tune can be heard on their “Neon Blind” EP. See London Stone perform live at the Bovine Sex Club on July 18th. – Kris Gies
