Music Video Premiere: Lemme Adams – Toys Director’s Cut

Posted on:

We have an awesome premiere for you today! San Francisco based psych alternative rock band, Lemme Adams has given us the opportunity to premiere the Director’s Cut of their award winning music video, Toys. You may have heard that Toys has won top honors (Best Song) for 2014’s Music Video Race.

This semi violent, anti/uber masculine music video is drenched with dark humor and irony. Putting a motion picture behind Adam’s dark pop songs is probably one of the best ideas…ever. We watch him teeter between childhood and manhood while obliterating a number of archetypes that are supposed to represent what it means to be a male human being on planet Earth. It’s all done in a starkly exaggerated manner, and we can totally tell why this music video won an award.

Enjoy it. Dig the art, dig on the humor but try not to soak in the testosterone spurting moments in the video too much! Or you can, but it might not do you much good because Lemme Adams and his bandmates are really sweet guys and we’re always into covering their badass releases and music videos. je

You can catch Lemme Adam’s next show in San Francisco at Elbo Room with Hungry Skinny and Talk of Shamans on September 19th.

Sun Valley Gun Club Releases New Single – Hey Collapser

Posted on:

First, let’s get this out of the way: Congratulations to Sun Valley Gun Club for winning The Deli Magazine San Francisco Artist of the Month Poll! Every month, a band comes out on top and this month is no different. This band won the poll by a landslide and we’d like to thank all the readers for voting! We hope you continue to support hard working bands like Sun Valley Gun Club. Congrats guys!!

Sun Valley Gun Club has released an awesome new single called Hey Collapser. This track is a grungy indie rock song that sounds like a nice mix between The Shins and a California drenched Modest Mouse.  Hey Collapser has well placed driving guitar riffs, milky vocals and a tightly composed style. Not all songs can create clean pauses and ebbs and flows that dramatically build and fall while still keeping its underground rock and roll integrity, but Hey Collapser does this. Very cool. This track proves you can be an underground band and still have great production value and a coherent sound. –je

All Your Sisters Foli and Dub Thompson Play Bottom of the Hill TONIGHT

Posted on:

Tonight at Bottom of the Hill you have the opportunity to enjoy a hyper local show with a couple of the Bay Area underground’s coveted projects. All Your Sisters and Foli are really great bands who could probably stand to attract a little more appreciation than they do. They’re not flashy or trying to rush and play all around the city for attention (not that there’s anything wrong with playling shows all over the Bay Area). These bands simply sound great. We think both band’s music is totally sincere and worth listening to.

Dub Thompson is a bit mysterious about their current location, but they’re originally from Bloomington, Indiana. Their sound can be described as experimental dub music. It is intriguing, well produced and worth checking out as well. Bottom of the Hill has got a solid line up going on tonight. Support independent music.

Astronauts, etc. Releases New Single – Fuss

Posted on:

We mentioned last week that we’d share Bay Area based experimental hip hop – psych artist, Astronauts, etc.‘s new single, Fuss…so now is the time.

This smooth and sensually cathartic track kind of brings sexy back to the Bay Area experimental synth scene. Everyone needs a little slowcore, tripped out synth music in their lives once in a while, and this musical project creates a potent atmosphere with style and grace. We’re always happy to sit back and not have our heads jarred every second with new music, so we invite a grooved out psych track to calm our nerves and to change the pace a little bit. (PS: continue to send us loud, intense music because tomorrow it may be time to rage).

With touches of R&B and neo soul, Astronauts, ect is definitely onto something great.

Street Eaters Release New Music Video – Empty Rooms

Posted on:

Bay Area based experimental alt punk band, Street Eaters have released a new music video for their song, Empty Rooms. The video is a manic, semi art nouveau short film that is fun and high energy. The duo blinks in and out of different backdrops and scenery throughout the piece making the video seamlessly odd while still looking like it’s been professionally shot. Check it out. Street Eaters rock!

Don’t miss their album release show at the Hemlock Tavern in San Francisco with No Babies on August 14th. The show is FREE!

Song Premiere: Split Screens – Stand Alone

Posted on:

The San Francisco based psychedelic alternative rock music project, Split Screens has given us the honor of premiering their new track, Stand Alone. This mellow and artistically somber song is a great representation of the echoey instrumentation that Split Screens does so well. This project is the creation of songwriter and arranger, Jesse Cafiero who plays multiple instruments on all of his pieces. His music comes across as very thoughtful and introspective, and the vibe of Stand Alone reflects that.

Cafiero’a talent shines and we’re excited to hear his work evolve and will wait impatiently for the full album to emerge. Until then, listen to The Deli Magazine San Francisco’s premiere of Stand Alone!je

Band to Watch: Vollmer

Posted on:

We’ve heard that there are a lot of great country and folk bands swarming this town, but there is nothing like the stark, garage country band Vollmer. Created as a homage to the slain second wife of William S. Burroughs, Joan Vollmer, this band opens every live performance with a simple vigil, and the intention of bringing awareness to the imbalance and injustice famous artist’s female partners endure, and Joan’s story in particular.

Their laid back California drenched Haight st. personas can’t hide their small town drawls and deeply embedded country ties. We like them because they’re a guilty pleasure and completely different than the noisy, gazey and washed out counter culture bands we’re used to (and love a bunch as well). Drawing from influences like The Silver Jews, The Rolling Stones and Johnny Cash, Jonny Moon, and the entire band (who all sport the last name Moon, making the entire situation a strangely fitting family affair), brings a gutter punk glam to country music.

Anything that is an acquired taste, any band that has the ability to totally be themselves and swag onto a stage quoting anti folk bands like The Moldy Peaches while singing with chewing tobacco in their cheeks is a-okay with The Deli.

They’re in the midst of recording their new album, which will be completed whenever they see fit. Vollmer will be playing a Deli Magazine Sponsored Event with our friends Spider Heart and The Janunting Martyrs (who will be playing their first show since March) at El Rio on August 20th. Don’t miss it! –je

Luke Sweeney Releases Second Single From Upcoming Album Adventure:Us

Posted on:

Luke Sweeney has released a new track from their upcoming full length album, Adventure:Us. This endearingly jangly pop rock track is quintessential Luke Sweeney, but slightly stripped down and more lyric based. Doin’ It To You is a pleasing song that doesn’t overwhelm and reveals warm tones, but still contains that sense of humor we’ve come to enjoy and expect: an over the top song title coating a non-aggressive musical composition style that is fun, creative and well produced.

Keep your eye out for the release of Adventure:Us on October 14th us through Aerobic International. –je
