Not fool around as in hook up with people…unless you want to. That’s your own prerogative. I’m talking April Fools, which is today. This show, however, is not a joke. Korgy and Bass, Eric Fury and Coco Columbia will all be blasting their ecclectic and addictive beats in the basement space at the Dacha tonight for $5. Come out and bob your head a little bit. Or maybe even pull a Busta Rhymes and break ya’ neck. Whatever you choose to do, it’ll be fun. Just keep the pranking to a minimum, we’re all adults here. -Cervante Pope
Fog Father make their video debut with “RIP”
Treefort is finally here and many Portland bands are making the trek out to Boise to represent our city. Among them is the infectious indie pop of Fog Father, who’ve got some great things in the works. Last night was their tour kick off show at Rontoms and today they’re making their music video debut with "RIP," off their Razzle Dazzle EP. The video is just at trippy as the song itself and a fair indication of how fun they are onstage.
Fog Father will be rockin a double play day at Treefort, playing the Gritty Birds Showcase with fellow Portlanders Bitch’n & And And And as well as their official Treefort performance at the Linen Building at 7:30pm. If you missed them last night and won’t be in Idaho, enjoy "RIP" below.

Saturday Night Sounds: Summer Cannibals – “Say My Name”
Today was a nice day. The sun was out, the temperature was pleasantly warm, and there was much anticipation to be had for all the great shows happening tonight. Why not end the day (and begin the night) on just as great a note? Summer Cannibals dropped their delightfully poppy new single, "Say My Name," just two days ago via Noisey. Frontwoman Jessica Boudreaux says the track is the most pop oriented song to come off their upcoming album, Full of It, due out late May on Kill Rock Stars. Though it sounds nothing like that fairly popular Beyonce-led song of the same name, it is an infectious tune perfect for a beautiful night like this one. Give it a listen below and check out Summer Cannibals’ slated tour dates here.

Divers do Dead Moon on new 7″
Indie punks Divers have been riding high since the release of their debut LP, Hello Hello, last year. The LP saw great praise from numberous outlets and come April 19th, we’ll officially have another reason to praise them even more. Dirt Cult is releasing Divers’ new two song 7". Side A is the rockin’ track "Achin’ On," but it’s Side B we’re focusing on right now. The B side features a well executed cover of Dead Moon‘s "Can’t Do That." Vocalist Harrison Rapp perfectly emulates Fred Cole’s croon, while still maintaining originality. Creepily enough, the tracks were internet-launched on the same day former Dead Moon-er Andrew Loomis passed away.
Check out Divers’ take on "Can’t Do That" below. For comparison, the original Dead Moon track can also be found below. Rest in Peace, Andrew.

Get your Shamrock Shimmy on
It’s that time of year again…St. Patrick’s Day. A day where we wear green to avoid getting pinched, get terribly wasted on dyed green boozy beverages, and pretend like we’re celebrating Irish culture when in reality we’re just looking for another excuse to day drink. No matter your reasons for indulging in whatever festivities you choose, one good time to consider would be the Shamrock Shimmy happening at the Goodfoot that night. Both Tribe Mars and POPgoji are set to play. Both of their approaches to a culturally varied neo-soul, hip hop and jazz are sure to make you want to dance about. Just be careful not to spill green beer on anyway as you girate.
Tickets run $7 and doors are at 9pm. Bring your luck and cheer, and join in on the fun!

Saturday Night Sounds: Shadowlands – “Clean Life”
This little bit of a late night Saturday Night Sounds jam is the latest from dark wavers Shadowlands. They just premiered the video for "Clean Life" a couple days ago on Gritty Birds, and their record release show is happening at Kenton Club as I type this. The video compiles esoterically shot clips of infamous Portland spots, reflecting the city in a brooding light that’s perfect for this gloomy, rainy night.
If you happened to have missed their release show tonight, dim the lights and enjoy.

Dad Works Hard now slated to open up for Simo
Local glam rock/badass outfit Dad Works Hard has just been added to open up for Nashville, Tn psych blues band Simo tomorrow night at Dante’s. The undeniably fun danceable quality of Dad Works Hard is guaranteed to bring a light and lively air to the bill. Paired with Simo’s classic production of southern blues rock, it’ll be a show unlike the typical shows that occur around town.
If you haven’t already, check out Dad Works Hard’s video for "White Shoes" below. It’ll give you some insight into just how enjoyable this band is.

Hang with the Homies
Everyone needs Homies. For the sake of friendship of course and, for the sake of this post, good music. It’s likely you’ve heard of both Ghost Mom and the Shivas. If not, shed some light onto that rock you’ve been living under, because there’s somewhat of a new iteration to fall for. Homies has been in the making for a minute – basically since the somewhat indistinct hiatus of Ghost Mom – but after a couple band bumps in the road have found themselves fully formed and ready to let their music befriend us all.
Consisting of Ralf and Omar from Ghost Mom and Jared from the Shivas, the trio generates an equal parts fuzzy, bluesy and rocking sound cushioned with a chill vocal delivery…in Spanish! Homies is working on a grip of new stuff, from an EP to tours in Europe and Mexico, but have some Portland dates slated to happen soon. For now, enjoy the language of love, served to you on a platter of keen tunes.

PREMIERE: Coco Columbia – “Weight on Limb”
We’ve got another new track to share with you today at the Deli, and it’s from our most pleasantly animated solo artist Coco Columbia. "Weight on Limb" is the first track off her upcoming album When the Birds Begin to Walk due out this summer. Inspired by underground poppy jazz and soul hits, the rhythmically intriguing "Weight on Limb" features layered arrangements that not only pique you interest but keep you hanging on their every movement. Coco Columbia worked with Sacha Miller on the engineering and production of the track and will continue to collaborate on the rest of the album together, so we can look forward to When the Birds Begin to Walk being just as masterful.
A single release show for "Weight on Limb" is happening tomorrow, March 9th at the Goodfoot. A music video will also be out soon, but until then, enjoy below.

DOUBLE PREMIERE: Melt – “Take a Walk” & Mister Tang – “Where You Goin?”
If there’s one thing Portland can seem to do right, it’s produce some fun lovin’, beer chuggin’, good ass garage rock. Today, the Deli is premiering two new, soon to be hit singles from a couple of the best garage acts in town, Melt and Mister Tang. Both bands share a member or two, but don’t think that makes them in any way the same.
Melt’s single, "Take a Walk," coming off their upcoming Fun House tape, takes a fuzzier surf route to the genre, with Jeff Tang’s vocals being refreshingly nostalgic to the genre’s predecessors.
"Where You Goin?," the Mister Tang track on the cassette of the same name, is grittier, more raw, and straight up rock n’ roll. Stone Tang delivers the lyrics frankly and unforgivingly in your face, drawing you in.
Both Mister Tang and Melt are also going on tour together in celebration of the tapes’ releases, which are both dropping within days of each other. To kick it all off, a show featuring both of them, the Deli Portland Emerging Artist of the Month nominees A Volcano and a famed special guest will be happening next week, March 10th, at the Liquor Store. Cassettes and tees will be available to fund the tour. It’ll be an auspiciously awesome situation for everyone involved, so be sure you’re there to witness it. You’d be Better Off Dead than missing it.

The Last Artful, Dodgr drops first music video
A good beat and some sick rhymes. When the search for a banger becomes a more arduous task than need be, these two key elements can make or break a song. Thankfully, The Last Artful, Dodgr isn’t green to what makes a hot track. Pigeons and Planes premiered the first release she’s had since the Fracture’s EP this past Tuesday. "Squadron" also happens to be The Last Artful, Dodgr’s first music video. Her raspy tone hijacks Australian producer WNTD‘s beat in this nod to your #squad, but the whole package is one worthy of playing on repeat. It’s the most fire two minutes you’ll hear today, and the video will make you want to roll one up.
