Them Vibes at the Basement TONIGHT, in your living room TOMORROW

Posted on:

Them Vibes is a duo based in East Nashville that take after the tradition of the Allman Brothers and Black Crowes in creating fun, dirty, back-road rock and roll. Listen to foot-stomper “Lorelei” and a whiff of moonshine breath blown through a harmonica is almost on the air. This Thursday offers the opportunity to view an online ‘living room’ concert from the band (details here).  Impatient types can head to The Basement this Wednesday (tonight) to catch Them Vibes opening for Goodbye June. Be extra nice and they might give you a pull off the jar. -Terra James-Jura

Prince of Spain single “Find Love”

Posted on:

Prince of Spain released “Find Love” on August 13th. It falls right in line with that halcyon, kick drum-happy craze that the Lumineers and Monsters and Men have incited. There is precious little information online about Prince of Spain, just this sweet, wistful track. Could it be deliberate? Is this the dribble before the deluge? Take a listen and decide. – Terra James-Jura

Grace and Tony to release album 11.12

Posted on:

Deli darlings Grace and Tony have just been signed to Rock Ridge Music (which includes Reel Big Fish and Sister Hazel on their roster), who will release their full-length album “November” on November 12th of this year. This means that in less than two months the term ‘punkgrass’ will be unleashed upon the world. See the living daguerreotypes pick their strings at the High Watt on August 30th. – Terra James-Jura

The Grayces play tonight at the 5 Spot

Posted on:

Acclaimed Nashville natives The Grayces are stepping into the studio at the end of this month, but will be previewing their new material during their show tonight at the 5 Spot. Their energetic, unapologetic punk rock would have landed them a regular slot on CBGB’s calendar in another life, as illustrated by this video for “Just Another Thing.” Hard rock’n’roll from all points South is clotting over in East Nashville, and those with enough wherewithal to attend to will also be rewarded with noise from Thee Japanese Schoolgirls, Joy Kills, the Switchmen, and a couple bruises.  –Terra James-Jura

Congratulations to our TWO Artist of the Month winners!

Posted on:

Congratulations to Bashly and Sol Cat for being our two winners of The Deli Nashville’s Artist(s) of the month poll. Yes, both bands had voters passionate enough to split the results. Rather than have the bands duke it out in a battle royale on the train tracks behind Cannery Row, we decided to declare two victors for the month of August.

So say you’re not the voting type and this is the first time you’ve heard of Bashly? Head over here https://noisetrade.com/bashlymusic/not-alone to download their free EP “Not Alone” and listen to the dream-pop-slash-soul that had fans clamoring to vote. Then go catch them at Belmont’s Battle of the Bands on McWhorter Lawn this Friday, August 23rd, or wait until August 30th for their show at Rocketown (if your college days are long over.)

Voted for Sol Cat and yet do not possess their album? Visit http://solcat.bandcamp.com/album/sol-cat and put $9 of your beer money towards their self-titled full length. Sol Cat has been blowing minds and grooving the Nashville scene since 2012, so it is high time they were added into your rotation. Keep up with their latest news and shows here: https://www.facebook.com/solcatband

Thanks to all that voted, and to all the nominated artists. If this happens again, there will be a ‘sudden death’ protocol.  Stay tuned for a new poll coming soon!          –Terra James-Jura

Diarrhea Planet releases “I’m Rich Beyond Your Wildest Dreams”

Posted on:

This Nashville band has been a topic of conversation on several music blogs lately. With their recent CD release show at Exit/In this past Saturday, the local band brought much hype from the streets of Elliston and surrounding Nashville areas. The young rockers caused quite the sensational ruckus at the local venue. Even with musicians such as Bruno Mars and Fitz and the Tantrums to compete with on Saturday night, DP (Diarrhea Planet) was able to fill up the venue. The show was everything to be expected and then some of the unexpected. The group of six showed hints of old school legends Van Halen, The Ramones, Jack Black, KISS, and the Strokes while shaking it up and causing a riot. Their much-anticipated album entitled I’m Rich Beyond Your Wildest Dreams is due out August 20th via Infinity Cat. Although purchasing their album will expose you to their raw and wild talent, nothing can compare with that of seeing this thrilling gang shred their guitars in a live setting. – Maria Hartfield

BASECAMP single “Emmanuel”

Posted on:

BASECAMP is collaboration between 3 Nashville producers bent on pushing the genre envelope. “Emmanuel” is a perfect representation of their combined capabilities. It’s experimental R&B; the smooth, soulful vocals are there, but so are meticulously-crafted beats that sound clean at first, but gradually reveal lush stratums deeper in the track. It’s a raw, tense song, and makes me curious to hear how the other three tracks of their upcoming EP emerge from their laboratory.

Golden Youth’s Video “Brother in the Morning Light”

Posted on:

Golden Youth have recently relocated to Nashville from Northern California, but let it be known that they are not on this website out of obligated southern hospitality (I’m from the North, anyway, and therefore incapable.) They released their first album, “Quiet Frame; Wild Light” at the start of the summer. As the name implies, they are adept at conjuring up memories past with heartfelt piano and haunting vocals. Check out their video for “Brother in the Morning Light,” which builds up to an orchestral tsunami of hand claps, crashing snares, strings, whistles, and longing. – Terra James-Jura

Promised Land Sound Releases “Fadin’ Fast”

Posted on:

Fresh-faced and dewy-eyed with a mean age of 25, Promised Land Sound is already attracting attention from veteran ears. Jack White has given them high praise by releasing their live 7” on Third Man Records, and William Tyler is co-producing their upcoming album. Their first single was just released August 8th. "Fadin’ Fast" pays homage to their Southern roots with slide guitar and vocals that sound one heartbreak away from being licked. Expect more crackerjack musicianship on their debut album, “Paradise of Bachelors” due out on September 24th. – Terra James-Jura

Cory Branan at the High Watt 8.9

Posted on:

Cory Branan, man of booze-influenced balladry, perpetual motion, and NSFW album covers is performing in his backyard of Nashville on August 9th at the High Watt. Listen to him turn a phrase and play hot and cold with the microphone during an evening of stripped-down punk rock. Tour mates Tim Barry and Brian McPherson complete the show. Unfamiliar? Let’s go back a few years to a song that has probably dropped 1,000 panties by now. – Terra James- Jura
