The local duo known as Desert Soap has been cycling through my playlist lately with their peacefully addictive sun-filled folks tunes. The duo appeared on Daytrotter back in June and released two singles through bandcamp back in March. They in the process making a film that will hopefully be released later this year. David Safran Sampler
David Safran has released a new sampler for his upcoming album Hysterical Man. The sampler includes his latest single "Adult Things".
YAWN “Acid”
YAWN has released the first single from the debut full-length album, Open Season, which will be released on August 30th through FeelTrip/Englophile. The track is called "Acid", and it is a tribal romp that picks up where the band’s free debut ep left off.
YAWN is hitting the road with Mates of State this September and will be performing at Metro on Sept. 30th.
Interview With Daysleeper
After releasing their debut album The Whiskey Diaries, Daysleeper proceeded to win our June Artist of month poll. The band has been around for a couple of years perfecting their booze-filled Americana sound. The band is Patrick Gemkow on Vocals and Guitar, Alex Austin on Bass, Brandon Thies on Guitar, and Oliver Hunt on Percussion. I was recently able to interview Patrick about the band, the new album and his thoughts on Chicago in general.

Hello Hammerhead
The latest project from Matt Ammerman (Cracklin Moth) is called Hello Hammerheads, and it is a different direction for him. Ammerman has partnered with Chris Ploeg to create album that dense and diverse. The nine track journey is called "Greatest Hits" and is available here for free.
Last Minute Plans: Chaperone @ Lincoln Hall

So Many Ways “37 Chambers”
The indie label Mightier Than Sword Records has announced that they have signed the local pop-punk band So Many Ways. The band will be making their debut on the label in the coming months, but they have released a lyrics video for the band’s new track "37 Signals"
Last Minute Plans: Magic Key @ Beauty Bar
If you are looking for something to do tonight to escape the heat and have some fun head over to Beauty Bar for a free show feature three new and fantastic band. Magic Key is the new project from Aleks Tomaszewska (Aleks and the Drummer), and she is making some creepy lo-fi pop heavy on the theatrics. Safeword is a stripped down version of Mahjongg featuring Main Mahj Hunter Husar. Rounding out the line-up is Architecture one of the hottest 60’s swooning bands in town. Cults, eat your heart out.
The Rumble kicks off at tonight, July 20th, at Beauty Bar at 9pm.

Maps and Atlases “Israeli Caves”
Maps and Atlases have released the video for their track "Israeli Caves" which appears on their latest album Perch Patchwork.
The band will be performing here next on August 6th as part of Lollapalooza.

Magical, Beautiful Here Come The Wild Waves
Recently Magical, Beautiful released a new full-length album called "Here Come The Wild Waves". This is the band’s first album in their current configuration, and it was four years in the making. Magical, Beautiful has long been the project of Tyson Torstensen, but on this fantastic, dub-psych album Tyson is joined by Nick Broste, Charlie Vinz, and Alance Ward.
