Chris LeSage is at the peak of experimental soul music in Chicago. Over the summer he released an amazing mixtape called "Alpha, Violet" which included the track below (NSFW) "Wishing Well" (very NSFW verison here).

Eptionic and Meat Wave recently released the band’s Saki Session. The session features several tracks from their self-titled debut album which was released last December. It also feature three new unreleased tracks, "Sham King," "Cosmic Zoo," and "Sunlight".

The-Drum have released a remix of the LA band Mirror talk’s track "Don’t". The duo released their debut album, Contact (Audraglint), earlier this year.

The dreampunk trio MTVGhosts recently released a new EP, Dystopio. I’m not sure I’ve heard of the classification of dreampunk before, but it does seem fitting for this trio. Their sound combines elements of surf rock with new wave or even electro-pop elements. The result is pleasantly rhythmic, melodic, and compelling.

I can’t think of a more perfect soundtrack to a fresh wintery snowfall that the music of Stephen Holliger (aka Swim Ignorant Fire). He creates chilling ambient landscapes and released his latest EP, Belly of the Whale, earlier this year. Recently he released an excerpt of a film soundtrack he is composing called "Washed".

Sofar Chicago has released a new video, and it feature Santah performing the track "Teeth". The track comes from their 2012 release You’re Still a Lover.

Santah also contributes a track to the new Wes Anderson tribute compilation "I Saved Latin". Their contribution is a cover of David Bowie’s "Five Years".

Drag City posted two incredible live performances from Cave yesterday. Below is the performance of "Silver Headband" from the band’s latest album Threace.

The video is by Mike Bingaman and was shot live on the Chicago River.

Rooftop Sessions has released a new video with the electro-pop band The Kickback. This video, like the others produced by Rooftop, beautifully captures the band and the city. The session was shot at Uncommon Ground.

My Magic Shoes have released their debut EP, 7 On a Good Day. The trio brings the straight forward Alt Rock and make no apologies.

The local label BLVD Records released the latest album from Fake Limbs, The Power of Patrician Upbringing, last week. According to the band, the project began as an album about FDR, but that concept was "scrapped due to time, breakdowns, life actions, and hubris". Fake Limbs continue be one of the best noise-rock bands in the city.

The soulful duo Milo & Otis have released a video for the title track for their 2012 self-titled full length debut, The Joy.

Back on Halloween The Symposium released a EP called Brain Jail. The six track EP is the bands fourth released in 2013. The five piece band like to keep their songs short, but filled of sounds and genes. If I had to pin them down I would say Psych Pop, but I enjoy how smoothly they transition between several styles of play.
