Jennifer Hall is preparing to release a tremendous new self-titled EP this month. Hall has a power voice and is a skilled songwriter. This is the follow-up to her 2011 EP, "In This". The first single from the EP is called "Make It Out Alive" and is available for purchase on itunes or streaming below.

Willis Earl Beal

The soulful Willis Earl Beal has joined the Portland Indie label Tender Loving Empire. The label announced today that they will be releasing Beal’s next LP, Noctunes, on August 28th. This will be Beal’s first release on a label since his split with XL Recordings and his follow-up to the independently released 2014 album, Experiments In Time.

The Drafts

The Drafts released their debut LP, South of Somewhere Else, last week. The four-piece band, Ben Goldman, Mike Torpy, Jacob Driscoll, and Tommy Borders, have a echoing basement indie rock sound that is almost as compelling as their songwriting style. With songs called both "Half-Asleep" and "Half-Awake", and "Cure to Nausea" and "Cure to Nostalgia", you can see the band enjoys language as well as sonic exploration.

Circuit des Yeux

Volutes @ Quenchers

Volutes is the work of Christina Dennaoui and back in early 2014 we shared her debut EP Elegant Grey. A few months ago she shared a new single, "Lossless", from her upcoming LP, The Quite Hours.

Monobody

The local label Naked Alley released the self-titled debut album from experimental jazz, math rock quintet Monobody last month. Consisting of Al Costis, Steve Marek, Conor Mackey, Collin Clauson, and Nnamdi Ogbonnaya, Monobody creates a unique instrumental groove that covers multiple genes but always stay steady and focused.

District 97

The Leslie Hunt fronted rock band, District 97 announced this week that their third LP, In Vaults, will be released through Laser’s Edge on June 23rd. Hunt has released solo albums but is most well-known for being a finalist on American Idol in 2007.

The 9 tracks on In Vaults were recorded at IV Lab Studios in Chicago and promises to be band’s finest release to date. Below is the kickstarter video that helped fans fully back this project last summer.

Ratboys

Topself Records announced today that they will be releasing the debut LP, AOID, from Ratboys on June 9th. Ratboys is now a four piece band lead by delicate vocals of Julia Steiner. On their earlier EP’s and singles the band was a duo consisting of Steiner and Dave Sagan. Now flushed out rock band, Ratboy released the single below, "Have a Heart" back in January.
