If you attended last year’s Bloktoberfest, you may have found yourself giving it pet names like LongLinetoberfest or OutOfBeerfest. Well, this year it appears that the neighborhood event has learned from its past mistakes, and picked up some essential sponsors to ensure that the same scenario wouldn’t be happening again. Thanks to The South of South Neighborhood Association the festival will be stretched out from Broad to 17th Street on South Street and businesses like Tritone, Pumpkin Market, Jamaican Jerk Hut, and more will be onto the festivities. And extra special thanks to Bella Vista Distributors for ensuring that running out of beer this year will be a HUGE impossibility. The music lineup this year has also been amped up with The Walkmen highlighting the event performing a very rare FREE outdoor set. You’ll also find more up-and-coming Philly acts like Toy Soldiers, Kuf Knotz, Cheers Elephant, Cozy Galaxies, and many more. Remember all beer proceeds benefit a variety of important education initiatives tied to the area’s schools and students so drink up! Cheers! Bloktoberfest, On South St. from Broad St. to 17th St., 12pm – 8pm, FREE, All Ages – Bill McThrill
