If you love musical paradoxes (and indie pop) we recommend you to check out Brooklyn quartet Hypoluxo, a band that combines a rather serene dream pop with crepuscular and monotone male vocals. The dichotomy actually works: the tracks’ harmonic content is rich enough to entertain the ear, while Ocampo’s dark tenor, appearing only occasionally, adds a layer of maudit character that true rock fans will find appealing. If you like the RIYL game, here it is: Real Estate, Joy Division, Lloyd Cole and the Commotion. The band will be releasing debut album ‘If Language‘ on September 30th, playing Our Wicked Lady on October 7th, and then leaving for a truly insane 40+ day fall tour which should be named "the clockwise tour of the US of A." Way to go Hypoluxo, safe trips!
