Maitri have just released a new LP called After Glow, from which they’ve also released a new music video for the track "Reminder". "Reminder" — like the other songs off of the album — captures the band’s experimental blend of indie rock, jazz, funk, and dream pop. The song builds from a tense groove about the drudgery of life into an explosive soundscape which ends in a final discordant, fading synth chord. The music video also showcases the emotion behind the track: Vocalist Caroline Davis, with a painted face, stumbles through cityscapes and forests, before dipping her head into a pond and then letting herself succumb to the heat of the Sun. Ben Pagano & The Space Machine play Secret Project Robot on 11.15
With a new track under their belt, Ben Pagano & his space rock band The Space Machine take the stage at Secret Project Robot on November 15th. The track — titled "Members Only" — details the current political situation in the U.S., with lyrics and music penned by Pagano. While the bass-heavy song sounds like a moody cruncher on paper, in reality, it talks about how everything bringing down the world today will become long forgotten in the near future. You can listen to the song in the embed below, and hear more of Ben Pagano & The Space Machine live at Secret Project Robot on the 15th. – Will Sisskind
Fovea release debut LP “pencil me in” on 12.8
Four-piece Fovea release their debut LP pencil me in on December 8th under the boutique label Omad. The group – made up of Skidmore grads Steve Shaw, Max Weigel, Jake Denicola, and Halley Furlong-Mitchell – have a sound that they describe as "dancey dream pop", which falls somewhere between Ra Ra Riot and M83. You can hear that sound in motion on "Cost Of", one of the twelve tracks on pencil me in, as well as at their show with Woolly Mammals and Ritual Talk on November 25th at Knitting Factory in Brooklyn. Check out "Cost Of" below. – Will Sisskind
Zuli releases debut LP “On Human Freakout Mountain” in pre-Halloween celebration
Far be it from Brooklyn breakout band Zuli to do anything with subtlety; they’ve released their debut album On Human Freakout Mountain at a pre-Halloween fiesta at Murmrr Ballroom, complete with some bloody Facebook pics to promote the event. The new LP contains ten tracks from Ryan Camenzuli — the brain behind Zuli — which carry the groove-laden jams of 2015’s Supernatural Voodoo up another level. Played live, these songs electrify any crowd; at the Halloween release show, produced by creative collectives CON TEMPLATE and Loop Troupe, they made listeners catch their breath more than any ghoul ever could. Gabriel Kahane releases two new tracks, debuts concept live show at BAM
NYC songwriter Gabriel Kahane has released two new songs online in anticipation of his coming performances at BAM’s Harvey Theater later this fall. Little Love includes the title-track and "November", both songs featuring only his lush voice and his bubbling piano. The release comes just over a month before the start of 8980: Book of Travelers, a live concept performance based on his November 2016 train trip across the United States. The songs in 8980 take inspiration from that trip’s experiences, Kahane’s conversations with the people he met, and ruminations on the body politic. 8980 runs from November 30th to December 2nd at BAM’s Harvey Theater; the show will hit Los Angeles, Ann Arbor, and Paris going into 2018. – Will Sisskind

Isador releases debut single “Falling”
Warren Heller, formerly of Dream Logic and now performing as Isador, has released his first single under his new moniker called "Falling". The new track comes as Heller’s first as a signee of 300 Entertainment, the label of Fetty Wap, Migos, and Young Thug. "Falling"’s repeating lyrics and building echoing vocals have a trance-like quality about them; when taken with the thumping beat, the song takes on an intoxicating groove much like Heller’s remix of Daft Punk’s "Get Lucky", which in 2013 alerted many new listeners to this rising talent. Her performance comes on the heels of her main band’s Dream Picnic at the Knockdown Center this past week. Travers side project’s debut album, Ten Flowers, is ten tracks of work less raucous than that of Rubblebucket, but packed with reflection and power in every synthesized note and experimental vocal harmony. Two music videos exist for tracks from the album, the first being for "Bodyriders" which came out in July. The second, released earlier this month, is for "Alonetime". Watch it below. – Will Sisskind

Charles Fauna opens for Cape Francis at Mercury Lounge on 09.29
Charles Fauna will open the album release show for his label mate Cape Francis tomorrow at Mercury Lounge. Fauna, the moniker of singer-songwriter Charlie Mischer, has had a busy summer co-writing singles for other artists, mixing new tracks at Electric Lady Studios, and releasing the music video for his song "Restless Child". Twisting bodies, darkened hallways, stark rooms, and a bouncing atonal beat give the song and video an eerie, adreline-fueled vibe. Watch it below, then catch Charlie at Mercury tomorrow night (September 29). – Will Sisskind
