Life Stinks and MUSK Support Sub Pop Records Artist Deaf Wish – 10/7

Posted on:

Two Bay Area based bands are set to support the Australian Sup Pop Records band, Deaf Wish on October 7th at the Hemlock Tavern in San Francisco. San Francisco based heavy garage punk band, Life Stinks is on the bill and will be pounding the stage with their heavy and vivacious punk rock music, and the Oakland based pure punk band, MUSK will be opening the show and setting the tone of the night. Both bands are fully equipped to help Deaf Wish tear the house down!

We’re excited to plug this gig because this International band will be playing such an intimate venue. We should not take what we have for granted in regards to being able to attend a number of hardworking smaller live music venues who survive and book cool acts from all over the world.

With all that said, we encourage you to check out Deaf Wish, Life Stinks and MUSK at the Hemlock Tavern on October 7th. It’s going to be a cool and insanely heavy show.

Congratulations to Travis Hayes and Peachelope for Winning The Deli Magazine Artist of the Month Poll

Posted on:

This does not happen often, but this month we have come across and occasion where we must congratulate TWO winners of The Deli Magazine San Francisco Artist of the Month Poll! The votes were so close that it has been decided that Peachelope and Travis Hayes should both be celebrated for obtaining the most votes!

Hayes is a hardworking singer/songwriter and avid supporter of the Bay Area music scene as he works as a promoter and booker for Neck of the Woods, a music venue in inner Richmond area of San Francisco. His smooth mix of indie rock and acoustic jams swoon us to no end.

Peachelope is an experimental avant indie duo whose sultry sounds and innovative live electro-acoustic performances are entrancing and always leaving audiences wanting more. These great local artists are both super deserving of this honor.  We wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors!

Slowness Dead Leaf Echo Cruel Summer and Moonbeams Perform TONIGHT at Hemlock Tavern

Posted on:

The bi-coastal shoegaze band, Slowness has always made amazing ethereal music, and they will be accompanied by the hardworking, brilliant NYC based shoegaze band, Dead Leaf Echo tonight at Hemlock Tavern! The bill will be rounded out by Moonbeams who are a noise psych pop band currently based in San Francisco from San Diego. Cruel Summer is also a psych dream pop band whose music is steamy and will blend well with the entire line up.

We love it when shows can have a great mix of east coast and west coast bands. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear some music that you wouldn’t otherwise be able to experience unless you were 3,000 miles east!

This show is going to be a lovely washed out, psyched out night of music. We recommend you expend some time and energy to make it out.

Buzzmutt Celebrates Album Release at Hemlock Tavern TONIGHT

Posted on:

San Francisco based experimental post punk band, Buzzmutt has released a new album entitled, Strange Planes of Surveillance. Their music is loud and untamed, but their song’s composition is structurally coherent. Buzzmutt’s  brand of noise music has a danceable element that is really fun but doesn’t take away from their punk integrity.

If you’re into Sonic Youth and New Order, you’ll be into Buzzmutt. They certainly standout and you should check out their show and pick up an album just to make sure you keep your music taste diverse.

Head out to the Hemlock Tavern TONIGHT to see Buzzmutt share a bill with Wild Pack of Canaries and The Shape.

John Murry Plays Two Nights at Amnesia

Posted on:

Influential folk musician, John Murry will be playing Amnesia on September 14th and September 21st. This Mississippi transplant is now residing in Oakland and we’re enthusiastic about him bringing his eerie presence and music that sits like a wax coating on your psyche to the Bay Area.

His music resonates and encapsulates musical resemblances to Townes Van Zandt, Pete Yorn and Tom Petty, but Murry’s music a bit more modern and experimental, bringing his dark folk lyrics animation and color.

Make sure you check out his two performances at Amnesia. His music has been featured on the popular television show, Sons of Anarchy…but that’s not why you should see him live. Take a listen to his recordings and you’ll be convinced. –je

Cool Ghouls Gear Up to Release New Album + Drop New Single

Posted on:

The incredibly popular San Francisco based band, Cool Ghouls is gearing up to release their new album, A Swirling Fire Burning Through The Rye which is due out on November 11th on Empty Cellar Records.

You have the opportunity to hear a new single from the album below. The quintessential CG sound resonates through their new track, The Mile, which is catchy but sounds a bit more mature than their earlier work. Although they still grasp tones and styles from The Beatles, there is a bit more of a serious tone to the song that shows that the band has evolved, which hopefully invokes anticipation for their upcoming album. We are intrigued for sure.

Give The Mile a listen. It’s a great song.
