Vapor, the new EP from Buddy Leezle, recently entered the equation. Produced by Wiardon, these tracks ooze with a composed, dramatic intensity, complemented by the boom bap. It’s a reminder of an old school, timeless sound and style. Go on, and breathe it all in.
New QQQ Tape Available for Streaming & Purchase
Shriveling is the new tape from Philly sound sculptor QQQ. Synth-saturated, electro beats generate movement within a mysterious, mercurial setting. Sonics build creating darker corners to explore. You can experience it all live this evening at Johnny Brenda’s, where he’ll be supporting Mark Redito.
New Track: “Ghosts” – Harmony Woods
Harmony Woods just shared, “Ghosts,” the lead single from their forthcoming sophomore album Make Yourself at Home, which is scheduled for release on October 4 via Skeletal Lightning. The song gradually gathers speed as Sofia Verbilla existentially observes individuals and processes. Taking in the longterm view, while also remembering to live in the moment, the track is soothing in its poised, energetic poignance. Harmony Woods will be performing tomorrow evening at Everybody Hits, as part of a lineup that also includes Shannen Moser, Half Thought, and Jetty Bones.
New This & That Tapes Compilation Available for Streaming & Purchase

The publication "provides accessible health information to women and non-binary people through visual and literary art." New Track: “All Who Are Thirsty” (Brenton Brown/Glenn Robertson Cover) – Abi Reimold
Philly singer-songwriter Abi Reimold recently shared their take of Brenton Brown/Glenn Robertson’s “All Who Are Thirsty”. A solemn, heaviness hangs in the air. Accompanied by guitar, Reimold stretches out a hand in an eerily inviting manner, as the weight of the words pile up. Allow it all to sink in. (Photo by Kathryn Rogers)
New Music Video: “Rushin” – Great Time
The trio of Great Time recently shared a new video for its latest single, “Rushin”. The track and group coolly and confidently strut their stuff through the streets of West Philly as the undeniable groove takes. Meshing sleek vocals and a funky, upbeat tone, the song has an infectious, dance-inducing atmosphere. You can catch Great Time performing at this year’s Philadelphia Folk Festival on Saturday, August 17, as well as Johnny Brenda’s on Thursday, August 29.

New Track: “The Weight of Water” – Mother Moses
“The Weight of Water” is featured on Mother Moses‘s new EP Bowling Shoes, which is available via Before the World Ends Tapes. The song strolls along in a folk familiarity as Sadurn bandmates Jon Cox and Genevieve DeGroot share vocal duties, curating innately intimate harmonies. The song taps into the isolating escape of creating a personal facade while pointing out its shortcomings. The cabin-esque feel is amplified by the fire-kindling warmth of Pete Gill’s (Friendship, Hour) pedal steel playing.
Weekend Warrior – July 19 – 21
Taiwan Housing Project have released another lethal LP Sub-Language Trustees, which is now available via ever/never records. The band generates a jarring intensity, shaking up the status quo. Kilynn Lunsford’s vocals demand one’s attention, in a mesmerizing fashion as the experimental instrumentation swirls in a chaotic, post-apocalyptic fashion. Unlikely combinations create unsettling sonic surroundings in the aftermath. Thrown into a cacophony of chaos that rumbles and roars, the band leads you through the fiery force of the unknown. This Saturday night, Cousin Danny’s will be hosting the Taiwan Housing Project’s record release celebration, with support from The Doilies and Eat (who were just added to the bill due to Chronic Anxiety’s Mitch Esparza being injured during a strong-arm robbery – we are certainly wishing him well and hoping for a speedy recovery). Stay cool & hydrated out there! (Photo by Rich Wexler) – Michael Colavita

New Track: “Hereditary Trauma Dream Sprinting (Oxford Circle)” – Nina Keith
“Hereditary Trauma Dream Sprinting (Oxford Circle)” is the lead single from MARANASATI 19111, the forthcoming debut full-length from Nina Keith. The LP is slated to arrive on August 30 via Grind Select. From its bird-chirping opening through the elegant expansive piano and flourishes of flute, etc., Keith creates a vivid, sonic landscape that also includes vocal assistance from Becki Freiberg. A graceful, weightless atmosphere thrives within an inherently complex, classical setting. It feels as though all your senses have been finely tuned to fully appreciate the nuanced layers. New Music Video: “Weathersby” – Strange Parts
Attia Taylor & Corey Duncan, a.k.a. Strange Parts, have shared a new video for “Weathersby”. The track is featured on the duo’s 2018 album, Oh God, What A Beautiful Time I Spent In The Wild, which was recently reissued via This & That Tapes. Shot in black & white with bright bursts of pinkish-purple fireworks, the video ties into the summer season. The pair naturally sway to the hypnotic groove. There’s a fantasy-inspiring, daydreaming aesthetic at play.
New Music Video: “Annihilator” – Night Sins
Portrait in Silver is the forthcoming album from Night Sins, the solo project of Nothing‘s Kyle Kimball. The release is set to arrive on September 6 via Funeral Party. A video for its lead single, “Annihilator,” is out now. The footage, which was directed by Cassandra Nguyen, captures a couple of goths getting down and possibly finding love/lust in a synth-fueled, bondage-friendly club scenario. Images of the perfect day, enhanced by nicotine and a stroll through a graveyard, are intermittently shuffled, causing you to question the line between fantasy and reality. Night Sins will be holding its record release show on Wednesday, September 4 at Johnny Brenda’s.
