Michelle Zauner, a.k.a. Japanese Breakfast, just shared that she’ll be working on the soundtrack for another video game called Sable. (Last year, Zauner posted an online roleplaying game that she named Japanese Breakfast.) Her latest project is "a coming-of-age tale of discovery through exploration across a strikingly rendered open world desert." Below is the video for Sable‘s announcement trailer, which also contains the soundtrack’s lead single, "Glider". The animation was provided by Micah Holland. The video game is scheduled for release in 2019 for PC and console.

New Track: “Fingernails” – Museum Food Court
“Fingernails” is featured on Parchment Paper, the debut release from Museum Food Court. A confessional, acoustic, bedroom-folk tone unfolds. As the sound of car breezes by, there’s a sense of regret over being unavailable to someone who has passed away. The recording feels like an apology voiced as part of the grieving process.
Weekend Warrior, June 8 – 10
Sweaty, heart-pounding primal rhythms, compounded by raunchy riffs and roaring, raspy vocals, Ecstatic Vision taps into grimy grooves, and explores the smoky haze, creating a mystical setting. Tonight, Kung Fu Necktie will host a celebration of the band’s latest release Under the Influence, a collection of covers paying homage to their musical predecessors. Released via Heavy Psych Sounds, a hot-on-your-heels heaviness develops a gut-checking sense of suspense, adhering as one races through the sticky, sonic forest. Reinforcing the rowdy, in-your-face, hard-rockin’ aesthetic, Narcos Family Band saturates in a unbridled stampede, welcoming all challengers. And Heavy Psych Sounds labelmates and fellow locals High Reeper will be kicking off the festivities. – Michael Colavita

New Track: “Around You” – Free Cake For Every Creature
Katie Bennett, a.k.a. Free Cake For Every Creature, just shared “Around You,” the first single off her forthcoming LP The Bluest Star, due out August 3 via Double Double Whammy. The song opens at a jogging pace, showcasing exertion but with a relaxed backdrop. That heartwarming earnestness reflects on the joyous, fluttery feelings of an unforgettable crush/love. You can share in the feels with Bennett & friends at Everybody Hits on Friday, August 3, where they’ll be supported by Told Slant and Slow Ref.
New Track: “SR 2K18 sorry” – Brown Rainbow
Brown Rainbow‘s new single, “SR 2K18 sorry,” is an unexpected, pleasant surprise. The song self-disparages as a low-key melody finds its place. Coming to grips/recognizing one’s shortcomings, the recording kinda bums you out but in a familiar, self-loathing way. Slow-burning honesty hits overdrive as a fiery guitar jam arises, before returning to its mellow beginnings. Welcome the hypnotic haze as it washes over you.
New Music Video: “Nothing” – Fleabite
NVM, the new EP from the quartet of Fleabite, is slated for release on June 29 via Salinas Records. The band finds Ali Donohue (Swanning, Waxahatchee) and Chelsea Dirck (Missing Earth, Yowler) joining forces with Aye Nako’s Joe McCann and Jade Payne. In their new video for the single “Nothing,” clay stop-motion is utilized, exhibiting a playful side as the song acknowledges regret in hindsight. It’s a raw-around-the-edges quick-hitter. The group is set to head out on tour in July, and they’ll be kicking things off in Philly on Tuesday, July 10 at a yet-to-be-announced location.
New Music Video: “Zero Day” – Nothing
Nothing recently shared the new video for “Zero Day,” the first single from their forthcoming album, Dance On The Blacktop, due out August 24 via Relapse Records. Directed by Kevin Haus, ominous clouds hang overhead as the band of pallbearers carries frontman Nicky Palermo’s body through the streets of Philadelphia, surrounded by a parade of Mummers and Eagles fans. The melodic buzz carries a heavy undertone, even during its points of celebration. Supported by Swirlies, Big Bite, and Smut, the band is slated to headline Union Transfer on Saturday October 6. New Track: “No More Bad News” – Worriers
“No More Bad News” is Worriers‘ contribution to Kevin Devine’s Devinyl Split series. There’s a perpetual bleakness that hovers in the universal ether, with the song matriculating as a form of resilience. Gathering steam, it sits in a comfortable, personal space, warding off the negativity, as best as Lauren Denitzio and company possibly can. Despite the bad times, one has to hold out hope for a better tomorrow. You can catch Worriers, with Tigers Jaw and Tiny Moving Parts, on June 8 and 9 at The Fillmore, opening for The Wonder Years. New Track: “Half-Light” (Feat. Kelly Zutrau) (Instupendo Remix) – Rostam
Philly sound sculptor Instupendo, a.k.a. Aidan Peterson, recently shared a remix of former Vampire Weekend member Rostam’s “Half Light,” the title track off his new album, which is out now via Nonesuch Records. It is featured on EP1, a remix collection of songs from his debut release. While retaining its intimate illumination, additional futuristic warmth enters the fray, bubbling to the surface. The delicate march of keys circles and serves as a further catalyst of motion. That tight, ballad groove transitions into a spacious, shimmering dreamscape that manages to outshine the original.
