Philly F/M Fest Kicks Off w/Philly Slick & MH the Verb at 2424 Studios Sept. 22
The sophomore run of the Philly F/M Festival kicks off this year with a hip hop showcase at 2424 Studios’ Skybox tonight. For six years running, Philadelphia Slick has been thrilling crowds with their impressive live performances. Last year’s opus Everything’s Game featured supercharged tracks like “Daily Dose”and “Everything Must Go”. They plan on unveiling a massive Kickstarter campaign once their Spit Pro Quo Tour comes to an end so it looks like the band is showing no signs of slowing down. In a short amount of time MH the Verb has managed to gain an ample amount of praise from the likes of The Roots and Kid Cudi. And now that the flourishing MC/Producer is backed by an all-star live band and a new album on the horizon, he’s shaping up to be another artist on the rise in the Philly music scene. The Skybox at 2424 Studios, 2424 E. York St., 7pm, $10 (includes a free beer for 21+), All Ages – Bill McThrill

FYI on DIYs in PHL: Phonographic Arts & Little Bar
With the more northern parts of Philly already establishing themselves as the “epicenter” of the local music scene over the last few years and West Philly’s music scene always being an interesting and unique breed of animal unto itself (but often being so goddamn far from everywhere else), where are inhabitants of South Philly to go to consistently get their music fix near their hood? Well, the guys behind Phonographic Arts now have your answer. Thanks to the Little Bar. We had a chance to chat and share a hand-rolled cigarette with Phonographic Arts founder Cliff Shumaker, his partner Pat Troxell (who if you didn’t know already is also Creepoid’s drummer), and Little Bar owner Michael D’Addesi to find out more about their plans to bring music to South Philly (hell, Philly in general) and their close-knit little family happily working to make it happen HERE.
POPPED! Music Festival Moved to Temple’s Liacouras Center!

Woah bummer! But at least we won’t be getting soaked (something that we were honestly not looking forward to).
Due to forecasted weather conditions and possible flooding at FDR Park the POPPED! Festival has been moved to Temple’s Liacouras Center (1176 N. Broad St.). All previous purchased tickets will be honored, and tickets for the Liacouras Center are on sale now through Ticketbastard.
