A reflective new video for “The 1 Bad Man,” featured on Remember Sports‘s latest album Slow Buzz (Father/Daughter Records), has just arrived. Directed by Faye Orlove, the footage uses a series of mementos as markers chronicling failed relationships, as a clay figure of Carmen Perry stands back and looks through the "Museum of What We Were". The remnants of the past have a way of staying with you. In November, the quartet will be joining The Get Up Kids for a run of Midwest shows; however, they’ll be back in town on Thursday, December 6 at Johnny Brenda’s, as part of a billing that also Justus Proffit & Jay Som, as well as fellow locals Knifeplay.
Debut Episode Album Available for Streaming & Download
Aggression, despair, isolation, the search for existential purpose and meaning, Lost In the Head, the new EP from Episode, covers it. That sense of raw, rumbling torment, compacted into concise musical windows, covey thought/emotion in short order. It’s primal yet deeply personal, exposing wounds for all to see. Press play, and don’t blink.

New Cherry EP Available for Streaming & Purchase
Cherry is getting set to hit the road with Tigers Jaw for the 10th anniversary of the Scranton outfit’s self-titled LP. Russell Edling and friends will also have a new EP in tow. Strong is the latest release from Philadelphia’s own Lame-O Records, and it features the label’s head honcho Eric Osman on drums/percussion. The album was co-produced by Three Man Cannon‘s Matt Schimelfenig, who also lends his talents on keys. Cherry is currently scheduled to perform next in Philly on Friday, November 2 at Everybody Hits.
New Painted Forest EP Available for Streaming & Purchase
Delicately subdued, heartfelt bedroom pop streams from Painted Forest on the band’s new EP Former Home Death. At ease and yet emotively exposed, the album embraces fragility with the stubbornness and strength to move forward; the lingering effects of the past meet the present. Acknowledging the personal impact, which is packaged in a spacious setting, the weight of the moment becomes swept up in the breeze. Float away in the sincere daydream.
Weekend Warrior, September 21 – 23
A pair of Lame-O’s latest releases are being celebrated this Saturday with a dual record release show at the First Unitarian Church. An endearing, country-folk vulnerability is ingrained throughout I’ll Sing, the sophomore album from Shannen Moser. Time-worn tradition meets the empathetic-transformative nature of her personal narratives. Stirring sensitivity sends shivers up your spine, and the warmth of rollicking rockers make this an album that can keep you company or be embraced in a communal collective. Sharing common ground, The Deli Philly’s August Record of the Month, Chosen Family by Thin Lips, is one which unfolds in accessible, revealing lyrics delivered by Chrissy Tashjian. The confidence/ability to put it all on the line forges a instant connection. With that established, the momentous, fire-starting riffs and melodies envelop in songs that tap into a raw swell of feelings and force. With its debut full-length album Sleep Debt out today via Take This To Heart Records, No Thank You’s Nicholas Holdorf-led quintet Cheer Up captures an expansive, bright, bouncy, thought-collecting emo. Speaking of new records, the quartet of So Totally is currently working on its latest. – Michael Colavita

New Fairy Godmother EP Available for Streaming & Purchase
Spit It Out, the sophomore EP from Alyssa Thomas-led Fairy Godmother, is out today. The album embraces the melancholy of heartbreak, but counters the doldrums with a refreshing, optimistic instrumental backdrop. Exploring feelings with a level sense of clarity allows one to move on. The pain may temporarily weigh you down; there’s a hopeful, resilient breeze that lifts you back up and dusts you off.

New Restorations LP Available for Streaming
In advance of its September 28th release date via Tiny Engines, Restorations‘s new album, LP5000 (Tiny Engines), is now available for streaming via NPR’s First Listen. Composed closeness that reaches anthemic ends, the quintet navigates large scale issues in a way that still hits on a deeply personal level. The ability to combine precision while evoking raw, emotive energy and responses is a delicate balance. Restorations is set to headline The First Unitarian Church on Sunday, October 21, supported by Wild Pink and Low Dose. (Photo by Jess Flynn; Collage by Bruno Guerreiro)
New Ivy Sole LP Available for Streaming & Purchase
Overgrown, the debut studio album from Ivy Sole, has finally arrived. With earnest lyrics delivered confidently, the rapper/singer hybrid paints authentic portraits in soulfully smooth, uninhibited strokes. Cutting through idealism to reveal realistic circumstances, the artist finds relatable mechanisms, while still expressing personal narratives with a polished, poignant strength. You can catch Ivy Sole’s record release party on Monday, September 24 at World Cafe Live. (Photo by Araba Ankuma)
New Track: “Hate Speech” – APE!
Feedback and rapid percussion set the stage on APE!’s single “Hate Speech”. It’s the first offering from the band’s forthcoming album Snotty Brat Rock. A degree of downhill aggression/menace pushes the message, as the duality of the declaration dismisses the importance of the subject (individual), while conversely acknowledging the impact of spoken words runs full steam ahead. It’s confrontational yet catchy in an abbreviated grunge-metal punch.
New Davey and the Chains LP Available for Streaming & Purchase
A chill, fluid groove is ever present on Shimmy, the new album from Davey and the Chains. A gentle, surf sway and sparkle off the recording create a cozy, hip-shaking record. The laidback, fire-burning nostalgia with psychedelic threads that flare up, at times, cruises on the mellow, melodic waves but rips when the moment is right. Let it ride.
