Kilamanzego recently shared a new single via Amsterdam based collective/label ZenSupremacy. “Myth of the Groove” crackles and quakes, as the warmth of synth invites, but simultaneously creates a mysterious atmosphere. Then, it finds its footing in vibrant, 8-bit matriculation. Step into that futuristic, funky, weightless beat, propelled naturally but not pushed. Kilamanzego will be joining a lineup that also includes Masie Blu and Gender Work, on Friday, November 23 at World Cafe Live.
New Treasure Box EP Available for Streaming & Download
Riding an experimental thread through contrasting calm and chaotic times, Treasure Junkie, the new release from Timothy MacIsaac (nubble light), a.k.a. Treasure Box, is a small gift from the future. That glitchy, free-floating groove sets a pleasant mood, as unexplored corridors are revealed. It has a contained, on-the-brink-of-collapse, burn-out atmosphere. Find that clairvoyant tunnel in the midst of disorder.

New Barney Cortez EP Available for Streaming & Purchase
Although the new EP from Barney Cortez is titled Pretty Thin, that isn’t because it lacks depth. There’s a rollicking, infectious, let-loose aspect, with melodic, alt-country, silky, soulful introspection. Crisp, composed tracks feel at home in their own skin, and adhere so that you’ll catch yourself humming them as you work through the day. It’s a diverse sampling, hitting on an array of aspects yet fitting together in a pleasant, compact package. (Photo by Michael Zallie)
Weekend Warrior, October 5 – 7

So please excuse our early departure for today as we get prepared (and a little rest) for tomorrow evening’s festivities. New Track: “Voyeur” – Bandit
“Voyeur” will be found on Warsaw, the forthcoming 7” from grindcore trio Bandit, which is set for release via Cricket Cemetery. In a quaking, brutal flash, the track creates an immediate, heart-racing sense of urgency. The single delves into the lasting effects of past trauma and how they affect families over the course of many generations. In this specific instance, Warsaw is in reference to band member Gene Meyer’s family’s traumatic experiences at the hands of the Nazis during World War II.
Debut The No. 1 Lovers EP Available for Streaming & Download
Delicate, heartfelt R&B-soul-folk is dispensed by The No. 1 Lovers on their new EP Lonesome Light. Cole Berggren (The Vernes) is aided by Reid Saw a Ghost bandmates Alexsander Lefkort & Reid Riegelsberger, as well as Matty Terrones (Neutral Shirt) and Alyssa Milman (Blushed) among others. There’s a sweet sincerity in the vocals, which is fed into by a calm, composed matriculation of the instrumentation. A laidback, purposeful ambiance, peppered with poignant exclamations of keys, horns, percussion, etc., cultivates a tight-knit, inviting sound.
New Don Babylon LP Available for Streaming & Purchase
Foul, the sophomore LP from power trio Don Babylon, is out now via Medical Records. The record rocks & rolls through life’s everyday obstacles. Whether barreling through with a boozy, raw, rumbling tone, laying back and seeing things with a humorous spin, or coasting on a stoned-out groove, the band demonstrates an enthusiastic flexibility to go where the music takes them. It’s a release that addresses the daily grind and tears it up in the process.
New Music Video: “Dag’ron” – Great Time
“Dag’ron” is featured on Great Time‘s Great Album. Its video is a trippy, headspace-wandering simulation. As the lyrics are displayed as a place marker, the setting continuously evolves. Performing on a store shelf, rocketing off into space, exploring a lack of gravity, and as the undercurrent of the song suggests, always dancing, it locks you into that strange, hypnotic get down. Supported by Lauren Scott and Saajtak, Great Time will be performing next in Philly on Saturday, October 27 at Bourbon & Branch.
New The Vernes LP Available for Streaming & Purchase
The Vernes‘ new full-length album, Maybe I’ll Feel Better When I’m Dead, whimsically drifts with a loose, strolling sense of nostalgia. Produced by Joe Michelini (American Trappist, River City Extension), the songs maintain an ease, led by its caught-in-daydream crooning. However, that mesh of heartfelt yet carefree, twinkling lo-fi is capable of morphing and exhibiting a volatility. You can find The Vernes at Boot & Saddle on Thursday, October 11, as part of a lineup that also includes Peach Pit and Sun Seeker. (Photo by Crosby Clouse)
