Below is a previously unreleased B-side from Free Energy called "Love Sign." The band is beginning their tour this evening in Chicago, and will be joining The Darkness and Deap Vally later on down the road. They’ll be performing next in Philly on Saturday, May 4 at the North Star Bar.

Black Stars’ love for rock ‘n’ roll is eminent in their music, but the local four-piece is certainly not afraid to bring the funk to get the party started. The band also brought their A-game to our recent Feature Artist(s) Poll, and emerged victorious. Emcee Reef The Lost Cauze and producer Haj (of Duhmi) just posted a new double single "Moonshine" b/w "B. Dawk" (a track that we already shared with you). So here’s its hard-hitting, bluesy A-side below. Both tracks will appear on their upcoming collaborative EP Sirens on Snyder due out May 15.

Here’s a new music video from Bad Braids (a.k.a. Megan Biscieglia) for her track "Ode to Fig." The song is from her forthcoming full-length album Supreme Parallel, which is due out May 1 via Austin-based indie label Haute Magie. The video was produced by Tamyka Smith and Diana Martinez from Brooklyn’s Daughters Project. Bad Braids – Ode to Fig from Daughters 

You may be familiar with Joe Boruchow‘s work as a street artist. His rad black and white paper cutout pieces are wheatpasted throughout the city (similar to the one above). Well, Boruchow has also recorded and performed music fronting his band The Nite Lights. He recently dropped his first solo release entitled Mind Eraser EP. Check out a standout track from the record called "Future Primitive" below! (BTW: We can’t help thinking about the classic skate video from Powell Peralta’s Bones Brigade with the same name. And if you are a skateboarding fan and have Netflix streaming, we highly suggest watching the documentary about the Bones Brigade crew – sooooo good!)

Kung Fu Necktie boasts a dense cloud of neo-psychedelic rock this evening. The quartet of Far-Out Fangtooth (who are scheduled to release their sophomore LP Borrowed Time later this fall), play with a calculated raw edge. The guitars deliver a heavy piercing metal finish that is further reinforced by primal, forward-thrusting percussion that bashes away claiming space as it moves, and the finishing touches are the tormented vocals that emerge from the darkness guiding the menacing sounds. Far-Out Fangtooth, will be joined by hard-rocking retro outfit Ruby the Hatchet, who is fronted by Jillian Taylor displaying femme fatale force with the tight group. They’re the type of band that continuously builds momentum on stage and watch out when they hit top speed. Brooklyn’s skuzzy garage outfit The Vandelles combine a harmony-pop, surf-rock retro vibe balanced with raw grit that’s both smooth and mysterious. The cloud will grow thick by the time headliners The Warlocks cast their spell. So our minds are kind of blown! The RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) just confirmed that The Roots‘ Things Fall Apart (MCA Records) has been certified platinum. This is the band’s first platinum album, which was released in February, 1999. It features the Grammy Award-winning song "You Got Me" with Eryka Badu and Eve, along with contributions from J Dilla (as Jay Dee), DJ Jazzy Jeff, Scott Storch, Common, Mos Def, Beanie Sigel and Dice Raw. Congrats to The Roots for an honor that is long overdue! The group also has a certified gold album from their work with 2002’s Phrenology.

Below is a new song from local gothic folk outfit The Bailey Hounds called "Hell Ain’t Forever." It’s the first single off their upcoming new album All the Blood in the World that is scheduled for release on May 28.

Last night, The Dead Milkmen provided one of the most hilarious moments during LOUD! FAST! PHILLY! at PhilaMOCA. We got to see footage of their appearance on Club MTV where Rodney Anonymous attempted to handcuff himself to Downtown Julie Brown after their performance. (BTW: We were informed that she hated them.) Special thanks to Video Pirates for sharing this clip below. Also NYC Taper (a.k.a. Have you ever had a relationship that you’d like to delete from your memory? Well, often times that is easier said than done. However, in Young Statues‘ new music video for the track "Eraser" (from their EP Age Ain’t Ours), which premiered yesterday on MTV’s Buzzworthy, the band had a fun idea to just throw a big party with music, friends, booze, a sledgehammer and a bonfire to burn all your exes’ stuff. However, you might want to avoid breaking into their places and robbing them. That’s some psycho ex-girlfriend/boyfriend shit! But let’s be honest. You’re already a bit off your rocker if you need to burn their possessions to move on – just sayin’.

Modern Baseball will be helping fellow Philadelphians The Wonder Years celebrate their record release next month at the First Unitarian Church. The show is already sold out, but you have the opportunity to catch the recent Run For Cover Records signees tonight when they roll into The Barbary. Just be prepared to sing-along with their ravenous, young fans. They’ll also be joined by Cleveland, OH’s Light Years and Syracuse, NY’s Safe.
