Close Types, the new EP from Telyscopes, recently entered our orbit. Turn on to the refreshing, melodic, psych-pop drift. Those jangly, free-floating, futuristic vibes still retain a humanistic perspective that keeps one connected. You’ll also be treated to a cover of Smashing Pumpkins’ beloved "Drown," which originally appeared on the Singles soundtrack.
Debut Littlun EP Available for Streaming & Purchase
Sentient Youth is the debut EP from Molly Lynn White, a.k.a. Littlun. Soothing, unshielded, emotive exposure graces one’s ears. Those light, airy tones are contrasted/complimented by the dramatic depth of strings and piano. One becomes entangled in the enchanting isolation.

Debut Juice EP Available for Streaming & Download
The post-punk quartet of Juice (which features members of Ursula, Dark Web, and Louie Louie), are freshly releasing its debut EP, 100%, via Get Better Records. With vocals beamed in a calm, clairvoyant manner, juxtaposing the immediate grit of the instrumental backdrop, there’s a welcomed unpolished, combative push that takes on a psych edge. It’s both jarring and catchy, fuzzy and fun. So allow your freak flag to fly freely!
New The Bul Bey EP Available for Streaming & Purchase
A new self-titled EP from The Bul Bey recently arrived via Illvibe Media. Over the span of five tracks, the emcee covers a lot of ground. There’s an authoritative air on display – a conversational tone that exudes confidence, striking with hard-hitting, personal topics. A through line of perseverance and persistence reigns, as if any obstacle that stands in the way is just another opportunity to shine. As the EP closes with “Deep Down In My Heart,” the artist addresses his demons and coming out on the other side, exhibiting a reaffirmed conviction to succeed/move forward, punctuated by a blistering guitar solo from Anthony DeCarlo of Ill Doots.
Weekend Warrior, October 26 – 28
Restoring the power to those affected by mass incarceration, flipping the script on systematic racism and violence, Reclaim Philadelphia’s Mass Liberation Campaign aims to promote change focused on unjust policing and in-prisoning practices in Philadelphia, via organization and education developing leaders. Tonight, Everybody Hits hosts a benefit for the MLC – one which showcases artists whose music coincides and reinforces those messages. Sammus articulates a wide spectrum of pertinent issues addressing things from a personal perspective, infusing nerdcore with an unyielding tenacity that will not be denied. Pinkwash cultivates a brutal, melodic punk, in a smash-and-sear framework – one etched in earnest vocal delivery and the release of emotion in cathartic waves of heavy, while Soul Glo unleashes internalized thoughts over the top of potent, instrumental blitzes. And on New Pedal, the recent release from Likes, an experimental, warped, sonic world is on full display. Please come out & show your support for much-needed change! – Michael Colavita

The Deli Philly’s Featured Artist(s) Poll Winner: Full Bush
Full Bush’s Cassie O’Leary, Adesola Ogunleye, Kate Breish, and Jayne Rutter found themselves bonding one evening over drinks and their displeasures with the “double standards for the upkeep of women and men in heteronormative relationships.” And in the sobering daylight of the next morning, they knew that something had “clicked,” and another rad band name would find its way on venue calendars and throughout the Interweb. Blending the individual members’ diverse musical tastes also seems to be something else that clicked on the band’s debut self-titled album. Though you might have been already rockin’ out to their record since the summertime, Full Bush will be giving it a proper coming out party this Mischief Night at Johnny Brenda’s, supported by Corey Flood and Resilient. Don’t be lame – definitely dress up & check out our Featured Artist(s) interview with the whole gang HERE!
New Track: “Mathed Up” – Soul Glo
An unrelenting, raw intensity streams from Soul Glo. Their latest single, “Mathed Up,” allows the flow of frustration over societal oppression to come to a lyrical head. Exploring the fervor of inequality in a densely-packed, musical window, the vocals hover between an unfiltered, furious scream and a crisper, hip-hop delivery; that combination creates a balanced, resounding impact. Soul Glo will be performing this evening at Everybody Hits, as part of the Mass Liberation Campaign Benefit, which also features Sammus, Pinkwash, and Likes. (Photo by Luke Mouradian)
New Track: “Boil & Pop” (Feat. Queen Jo) – Matthew Law
Matthew Law, who was formerly known around town as DJ PHSH, now has a new imprint, Friends & Fam. Its first single, "Boil & Pop," featuring Queen Jo, moves with a heart-pumping beat that warps into a key-laced, liquified groove. The Philly femcee takes command of the track, in an assertive-confident manner, demonstrating that she’s not one to be trifled with. You can find Matthew Law hosting Thursdays 4 Love tonight at Saint Lazarus Bar, with special guest DJ G33K.
New Track: “Give Me Something” – Scantron
A new single, “Make It With You,” has arrived from Scantron, but let’s talk about the flip side. “Give Me Something” has that sweaty riff-fueled buzz. The stomp of the rhythm mingles with the vocals in a cool, catchy manner, injecting a bit of hand clapping for good measure, before hitting overdrive with an infectious snarl. You can catch the band as part the TJ Kong and the Atomic Bomb Halloween Murdershow IX, which also includes Sixteen Jackies, this Saturday, October 27 at Underground Arts.
New Video: An Allston Pudding Session – AllegrA
Filmed by Matt Hamer, an Allston Pudding Session, featuring AllegrA, was recently posted. Over the course of three new songs, “Spoon or Fork,” “Subtle Ignition,” and “Twisting Of,” the quartet exhibits an intimate vulnerability, with the knack to hit a somewhat volatile, downhill trajectory. Forging a zoomed-in familiarity and then shifting the dynamics, the songs build up the emotive pressure, before releasing it to the ether.
New Track: “Living Statues (Setting sun)” – Luminous Fins
The trio of Luminous Fins recently shared a new single, “Living Statues (Setting sun)”. Beginning with a rhythmic-rumbling march and tunneling vocals, the song naturally propels with a somewhat ominous undertone. Rolling forward under the shade of darkness, a suspense-laced heavy comes to the surface as the instruments are explosively unleashed. Navigating through murky waters, the track latches onto an unrelenting psych-surf sound.
