Night Panther premiered a new track called "Delta" yesterday over at Yours Truly. It’s a glorious sounding little sex-pop ditty, and will be available on 7" via blogger-backed indie label Small Plates Records, who will also be releasing their full-length album. You can catch them next in Philly on Thursday, August 15 at Philadelphia’s Magic Garden on a stacked bill that will include Strand of Oaks, Norwegian Arms and Circadian Rhythms.
Photo Recap: 2nd Street Festival 2013
You really couldn’t ask for much better weather this past Sunday for 2nd Street Festival. There were plenty of music lovers, drinkers, foodies, children and pets roaming the streets of Northern Liberties. While crowds for some of the music sets were a bit thin in comparison to past years (as we had expected), we still had another great time at the fest with friends and acts like Vacationer, West Philadelphia Orchestra, On the Water and many others keeping all thoroughly entertained. You can check out some of our photos of things that we came across while enjoying the day HERE. (Photo by Rachel Barrish)

New Video: “Borderlines” (On the Hill Session) – Sean Hoots
Check out a new video of Hoots & Hellmouth‘s Sean Hoots performing his brand new song "Borderlines" for Kettle Pot Tracks‘ On the Hill series. You can also view another performance from the session of "When I Decided to Be Born" HERE, and the entire set is available for streaming and download ("name your price") via Bandcamp. After Sean returns from his family’s orchard in North Carolina where he’ll be doing some "head-clearing," he plans on working on the release Raise The Dead Languange Vol. 2 and an R&B record that he’s been "threatening" to make. Also, look out for the Sean Hoots Trio, featuring bassist Todd Erk and drummer Carl Bahner, at Brandywine Folk Festival and the WHYY Connections Fest as well as tour dates for Hoots & Hellmouth in November-December.
New Music Video: “Digital Girl” – Work Drugs
Below is a new music video from Work Drugs for the track "Digital Girl," which "explores the depths of your digital soul by reminding us of those digital ghosts that were once with us… but are now outdated by newer and sexier upgrades. This is a tribute." It features clips from the 90’s television series Weird Science with Vanessa Angel that is based off the classic 80’s John Hughes movie with the same name starring Kelly LeBrock and Anthony Michael Hall. You can also download "Digital Girl" for free HERE.
The Deli Philly’s Featured Artist(s) Poll Winner: Underwater Country Club
The Robinson Brothers, Andrew and Skip, had the classic idea of getting the band back together. Though the “mission from God” didn’t lead to a hilarious adventure through the city being chased by cops, neo-Nazis, a country band and a psychotic ex-girlfriend to save an orphanage, they did accomplish getting Underwater Country Club up and running again which eventually led to the group winning our Feature Artist(s) Poll. You can learn about their journey and more from our interview with lead vocalist Andrew Robinson HERE, and you can also catch them performing next in Philly on Friday, August 16 at the Tin Angel.

Rockabilly soul rebels Low Cut Connie have a triumphant return from tour to play a jam-packed lineup at Underground Arts tonight. And they’ll be fully prepared to showcase why their latest album Call Me Sylvia has been earning them so much buzz. Low Cut Connie will be joined by the cousins of St. James & The Apostles who will be playing their last Philly show as a power trio before they test out the waters performing with an extended lineup that features Ang Bocca of Ang & the Damn Band and Jeff White of Arctic Splash at Johnny Brenda’s on August 17. Rounding out the lineup will be the effervescent indie rock tunes of Shark Tape. Underground Arts, 1200 Callowhill St, 5pm, $10, 21+ – Bill McThrill
Weekend Warrior, August 2 – 4
We always look forward to 2nd Street Festival. Like we’ve mention before, it’s the closest feeling that we get in Philly to hanging out in the streets of Nawlins. While its pretty obvious this year’s headliner The Low Anthem will have a difficult time matching the energy of their predecessors tUnE-yArDs and Man Man, the recruitment of hometown favorites like Vacationer, On the Water, West Philadelphia Orchestra, The Bailey Hounds, Mohican, Weird Hot, Banned Books, Laser Background and many others will keep things plenty fun and interesting this Sunday. Check out the full schedule above, and we look forward to seeing you out and about this weekend. 2nd Street Festival, N. 2nd St. (between Green & Germantown Sts.), 12pm – 10pm, Free, All Ages – H.M. Kauffman
New Video: “When You’re a Gardener” (Yo Gabba Gabba) – Dr. Dog
Beloved homegrown outfit Dr. Dog just became even more loveable with their appearance on the popular Nickelodeon kids’ show and indie music-friendly Yo Gabba Gabba. Check out their performance of a song called "When You’re a Gardener" below because we highly doubt that it will be making on their upcoming album B-Room due out October 1 via Anti-.

Photo Recap: XPoNential Music Fest 2013
This year’s XPoNential Music Fest was one of the most crowded (if not the most crowded) ever, which is not surprising since it teamed up with Americanarama featuring the likes of heavy-hitters Bob Dylan, Wilco and My Morning Jacket. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t play in our favor with the skies pouring down biblical amounts of precipitation on its final day causing the non-Americanarama section of the weekend to get rained out during Justin Townes Earle’s set cancelling Dawes’ performance. While most ran for cover, others made the best of it by playing Slip n’ Slide on the muddy hills. Overall, the atmosphere was very peaceful with the exception of John Butler Trio dragging in the frat-boy-meets-’90’s-tribal-tattoo element. Philly’s own DRGN KING and The Fleeting Ends provided the more rockin’ sets of the weekend, while high schoolers The Districts continued to impress with a moving, emotional performance. You can check out some of our photos from last weekend HERE. (Photo by Brandi Lukas)
