Heyward Howkins and Chris Madl (a.k.a. Chet DelCampo) have combined forces to form Later Fortune. A quaking bass and an ethereal, foggy synth sketch the setting for their debut single, “A 12-Year Audition”. Howkins’s genteel vocals are contrasted by the push of tempo; the fire-crackling invitation of words cuts through the ambient darkness. The textured sonics bridge genres in a comforting manner.

Originally found on 2014’s Bishop, another remix of Buddy Leezle‘s "Saddle Soap" (featuring Da Buze Bruvaz) is out now. Produced by TCOR (The Custodian of Records), the alternative take stews under the streetlight before jumping off. Riding the smooth suspense of keys, there’s a sense of polish, while retaining a residual grime. Splicing operatic vocals amid the aggressive yet composed lyrical flow gives the track a timeless appeal.

A new video for “I Found a Woman,” featured on Scotty’s latest EP Goodbye, has emerged. Palm trees and gently pulsating, vibrant colors mirror the song’s laidback aesthetic. Animated lips mouthing the lyrics and the injection of various strange cartoon characters completes the eccentric set of imagery. It’s just the right amount of odd to help brighten your day. Ha…maybe.

“Empty Rooms” is the new single from Booze Radly, and will be featured on their forthcoming album Haunted Mind, which is slated for release next year. The song is used to process grief and loss. A melodic fragility gradually builds, gaining anthemic qualities that the walls can no longer contain. Flashes of raw, emotive lyrics are propelled by fiery guitars, resulting in a much-needed release. "Empty Rooms" is also accompanied by the band’s first ever video that provides grin-inducing snapshots of the gang performing, skating, and simply having a good time.

Inward, the new album from the trio of Hotel Neon, cultivates a peaceful, meditative ambiance. One’s sonic surroundings blossom in gentle waves of instrumentation. Freshly awakened by the inviting drone sound, a sojourn of self-discovery begins while simultaneously finding the natural balance between internal contemplation and the beauty of the external world. Inward was originally made available during the band’s recent tour last month with Marcus Fischer & Benoît Pioulard.

With a mesmerizing, industrial buzz melding the chaos of noise and the cathartic calm of enveloping electro experimentation, Lunacy (a.k.a. Nicky Kulp of Far-Out Fangtooth/Remote Control) sonically maneuvers through the post-apocalyptic/dystopian landscape. The vocals are transmitted in hushed, haunting tones as an eerie metallic echo and the thump/tic of a percussive beat reverberates in one’s chest and seemingly serves as a reminder of the clock we’re all racing against. This Saturday night at Everybody Hits, Lunacy will be celebrating his new compilation of EPs and singles delivered thus far. Released via Altarpiece Records/Third Coming Records, Just The Beginning is presented as the precursor to a forthcoming debut album. Dancing Plague develops a somber synth-anchored state of darkwave, daring you to move towards a dim path that Columbus’s Child of Night leads you further down. “H* le,” the debut single from Bad Memory Time, quickly accelerates from a breeze into something with a bit more force. That strolling feel is takes on additional weight/baggage with the murmur of peripheral atmosphere. That eerie openness, given the hushed, deeply personal tone of the vocals, provides a point of focus. It’s both ethereal and in the moment.

Kelsey Cork and the Swigs just released their debut single, “Center City Blues,” via Good How Are You Records. The song gradually revs up on a blues-rock path, while contextually delving into the hierarchal power structure and where we, as individuals, all fall or fit in. Hopefully the recent election results will mark a step toward improvement, and as the song suggest, no matter what your standing is, it’s important to truly enjoy yourself. “Bandaid” is the new single from Earthboy, and is available via Good Sadie Media. A soft, acoustic guitar pattern quickly morphs tempos as the backend assumes the reins, and a tale of a first date is revealed in rapid, semi-spoken, lyrical lines. Following the storyline as internalized thoughts are revealed in in reflective real time, there’s an honesty and innocence in its unguarded approach. Those step by step descriptions are given the additional punch of musical exclamation points, creating a compelling anecdotal song.

Courtesy of Cold Punch Music Group, Deja Vu All Over is Soul Dolphin‘s debut album. Tranquilizing reverberations dissipate along an experimental tract. Combining that measured, melodic, meditative state with more aggressive, deep-tunneling grooves, there’s an isolated eye on the future landscape. It’s a head trip that doesn’t venture too far from home, exploring another wrinkle within the mind.

With all the rain earlier this week and though not all the races yesterday turned out the way we wanted (much love to Beto O’Rourke & Andrew Gillum), we are very happy that the sun is out, and the brakes have been put on this Trump administration trainwreck. Last night was bittersweet, but we’re feeling a bit more positive today so we thought Steady Hands‘ new video for "Indifferent Belushi" might put an added bounce in all our steps this morning. Our apologies to those who are at work or in class and might be feeling some FOMO watching this video.
