New Music, Emerging from your Local Scene

With all the controversy surrounding high-end department store Barneys regarding racial profiling, here’s a joint called "Heart On My Sleeve" from STS about his compulsive desire to shop (oniomania) and his issue with one of his favorite places to do it at. The single was produced by Khari Mateen. Boycott Barneys – retail is for suckas anyways!
Below is a contemplative new music video from Rosu Lup for the track "Dust & Days" that makes us long for the time when the only limits in our lives were found in our imagination. Director Francesco Gambino captures those feelings so well with the band’s standout song from the EP Currents. The group will be taking the stage of MilkBoy Philly next Thursday when they open for Yarn. Enjoy! (Photo by Doug Seymour)
Indie pop-rock four-piece Little Big League are currently in the middle of their month-long U.S. tour in support of the band’s debut LP These Are Good People (Tiny Engines). Michelle Zauner, Deven Craige, Kevin O’Halloran and Ian Dykstra will be making a stop home this evening at The Barbary when they help Glasgow trio PAWS kickoff the group’s tour, which Little Big League will be joining for a run of shows. Also on tonight’s bill is garage-pop trio Amanda X, who recently did an interview and shared a new track called "Parsnip" with Megapeng. The song was recorded in NYC at Rubber Tracks with former Dangerous Ponies and now The Weaks‘ Evan Bernard laying down the vocals and Chris Baglivo handling the mixing; however, this will not be the final version on their upcoming record. The Barbary, 951 Frankford Ave., 6:30pm, $12, All Ages – H.M. Kauffman

Local indie-punk outfit Ma Jolie released their new LP Polar (Lame-O) yesterday, which you can stream and purchase below. The album was recorded by Joe Reinhart at Headroom Studios and Jorgan Krug at The Turnerdome (a.k.a. The Ox), and was mastered by Will Yip.
Doylestown’s Balance and Composure premiered a new dream concept music video for their track "Tiny Raindrop," earlier this morning via Rolling Stone. The song is off their new album The Things We Think We’re Missing (No Sleep). The video was directed by their good friend Alex Henery, and was shot throughout Bucks County and parts of Philly. The band recently toured with Coheed and Cambria, and is schedule to do a Canadian tour in January.
Restorations recently showed The Fest why Philly’s music scene rules with some epic jams. Check out their "Mystery Band" set from The Atlantic below, which included performances of "Nonlocality," "In Perpetuity Throughout The Universe," "Let’s Blow Up The Sun," and "Documents"! They are currently scheduled to perform next in Philly on Saturday, December 21 at Union Transfer for the already sold-out Early November show. Special thanks to Jeremy Silveira for sharin the footage.
Here’s a new track from Oldermost to help you daydream the day away called "When I Know." It’s the third single from their upcoming album I Live Here Now, which has yet to receive a release date. Enjoy!
Local hardcore outfit Congenital Death posted a couple of blistering, rage-filled tracks for Halloween. Below is the aptly and simply named "2," off their two-song release, +2. You can catch the four-piece performing live tomorrow night at Golden Tea House with Backslider, Spine and Weekend Nachos.
