Here is a new video from Aunt Dracula for “Statue of Gordon” off of their upcoming remix LP Peel Face. The churning, industrial remix by EXCEPTER is hypnotic and relentless, while the trippy, lo-fi VHS clips twist and warp with the eight minute freak-pop epic.

Filter Magazine recently shared this video of Bleeding Rainbow performing two songs “Images” and “Out of Line”. Filmed at Four Foot Studios, in Brooklyn, “Images” immediately pounces with force, while “Out of Line “ drifts in, through a haze, gradually building its’ powerful punch. 

Just in time for some nice weather, Kite Party has released a hazy, laid-back track that is somewhere between their punk-rock roots and Yo La Tengo. The shoe-gaze guitars and distant vocals would go great with a beer and sitting on a stoop.  So get to it. 

Who said the middle of the week can’t be fun? Tonight the Golden Tea House welcome five heartbroken bands to entertain us with shadenfreude as we usher in the weekend. Headlining the evening are the punk crooners and Tea House regulars Leaky Soups featuring the totally cool Cullan Bonilla on vocals and assorted stringed instruments. The gem of the evening should be a set by the grungy Ghost Gum. Coming off the release of their bite-sized demos in February and led by Catnaps’ Carolyn Haynes, these shoegaze rockers are going places. You can also catch two out-of-towners, the deep-voiced Tyler Daniel Bean from Burlington and Portland’s The Hague. Here is a stark, contemplative new track from the pensive indie rock two piece Monday Appreciation Society. The nostalgic track is at once a lonesome ballad and a warm blanket in a frigid room. Complimented by some light keys and a drifting trumpet line, the song slows down time, even just for a couple minutes.  The track is off their upcoming album, If You Were Here, I’d Be Home Now, out in June.  

South Philly’s high-kicking Cayetana plays Golden Tea House tonight with Strange Relations, Hurry, and Cruiser. Directed by Sylvio Bernardi, this video for Teen Men’s “The Sea, The Sea” is a playfully montage that coincides with the song’s lyrics. Using a plastic salesman and a gorilla costume co-inhabiting the coherent with a touch of the strange.

This live version of “Cowards Get What They Deserve” by Marc Neibauer was recorded Saturday at The Fire. It casts a dreary grey-cloud tone, which appears appropriate given Mother Nature’s current outlook.

Michael Prince aka Fox Bay steps to the forefront making his solo debut this evening in the intimate confines of Johnny Brenda’s. The South Carolina-born transplant  (of Bottom of the Hudson & The Cobbs) is branching out on his own. The Fox Bay moniker is a nod to the area in South Carolina where his familial roots run deep. His single, “Divided Subtraction” is an inviting track, which paints heartfelt narrative-driven lyrics over a textured instrumental canvas. That layered orchestration creates a mobile vibe that one can’t help falling into. Fox Bay will be accompanied on the bill by Atlanta/Austin- based whimsical pop/folk outfit King of Prussia whose new double-album Zonian Girls & The Echoes That Surround Us All will be released tomorrow. Here is a new video from eclectic, indie pop outfit Purples. The song, “On the Clouds” is off of their long awaited debut LP, Nancy, which came out just last week. The video features a moppy haired youth slowly drinking an orange soda, with lyrics from the song over-laid and some trippy colored effects to boot.  The song, as well as the rest of the album is available for streaming right HERE. 

Pilam erupts with its thunderous Human BBQ for its unprecedented 36^th year today, and the music frathouse features a stacked lineup of 18 bands playing its basement and 1^st floor. The event will be headlined by Brooklyn buzz band Total Slacker, and will feature other noteworthy out of towners like NYC’s Total Slant and Betlehem’s indie duo Slingshot Dakota. But Philly will be very well represented by the like of Cold Fronts, who should be seeing big things coming their way after recently signing to Sire Records. The ongoing psych rock project of booking wizard Andy Molholt, Laser Background will bring their synths stylings to the party. Mumblr will bring the fast paced fuzz punk, and Secret Plot to Destroy the Entire Universe will bring their hard-hitting, emotive anthems. Add in 11 more bands of varying style, plenty of meat and veggie BBQ options, and the Human BBQ’s tendency for delivering surprise performers; and you have a stacked day of music.
