When Swearin’ hits the stage at The Boot & Saddle, its members bring a road-tested, garage-punk vibe. Harvesting emotional attitudes while hovering the threshold of a polished performance yet retaining honest, appealing grit, their songs spring forward meshing the interplay of male and female vocals, demonstrating a pace that at times is easy to latch onto, while conversely, at others, pushes the pace ratcheting up the intensity gauge as the clean, snappy percussion takes on adrenalized smashes with bass hitting like a sledgehammer and guitars jaggedly fuzzing out. The steady charge of youthful Massachusetts garage-pop, all-female quartet Potty Mouth reinforce the bill which is also supported by relative newcomer, West Philly trio Urine Culture. Lo-fi wunderkind Alex G, a.k.a. Alex Giannascoli, just share his new LP DSU, which is streaming over at The Fader. The album officially come June 17 via Orchid Tapes. He’ll also be heading out on an extensive U.S. tour next week with labelmates Elvis Depressedly that will close out in Philly on Sunday, August 17 at The Fire.

The power of “Tiger” just delivered this tripped-out video-take of Needle Points‘ “Cocoanut,” which can be found on the group’s debut album Bom Tugangu. The song is an anticipatory mood-setter, etching the thick groove that quickly develops via the welding, percussive notes and a primal guitar lick. This weekend, the band will be part of The Barbary’s Breakout 2 in Milton, PA, alongside the likes of Far-Out Fangtooth, Fantasy Panther and Bonzai. Needle Points will also be making an appearance next weekend on Friday, June 20 at Dover, DE’s Firefly Festival.

DRGN King are getting ready to perform at Firefly Music Festival in Dover, DE next weekend. If you aren’t planning to make the fest, then you are in luck because they’ll be playing a warm-up show tonight when they headline Kung Fu Necktie. The band also recorded a BSide Session at Mobtown Studios during their last tour. You can check out the video below, which features performances of previously unreleased songs, "Saint Tom’s" and "Don’t Trust The Sad Boys," that will appear on the group’s upcoming album. Strand of Oaks, a.k.a. Timothy Showalter, taps into his inner confesssional 60-Mintutes world in his latest music video for "Shut In." The single is off Showalter’s forthcoming LP HEAL, due out June 24 via Dead Oceans. The video parody was directed by Zia Anger. Strand of Oaks will be performing next in Philly on Friday, September 19 at The Boot & Saddle.

Lushlife, a.k.a. Raj Haldar, has been way too quiet for me. I’m just hoping that it’s the calm before the storm. I’ve been waiting patiently for the release of his collaborative album with CSLSX, but I recent learned the other night that the fate of the electronic group is suspect. I’m really hoping that isn’t true for many reasons. However, Lush did share that he just wrapped up work on a new album, and will be taking the stage with some "new jams" this evening at Johnny Brenda’s when he opens for Stones Throw’s talented wordsmith Homeboy Sandman. This evening’s Tuesday Tune-Out, curated by WKDU‘s Yoni Kroll, will be a tribute to troubadour and left-wing activist Billy Bragg. There will performances of his music by Josh Alvarez (Cinepunx), Colin Smith (Serpent Throne), and Carly M (No Other). As always, there will be a mystery screening of a film, which isn’t much of a mystery tonight.
