Below is a new Space Jams Sessions with Mumblr. The band put out an impressive seventeen-track LP entitled Full Of Snakes this past September via Fleeting Youth Records. Here’s a stripped-down performance of their song, "Masturbation." They’ll be playing next in Philly on Saturday, December 27 at Yarga’s Basement for Day 1 of Kat Kat Phest.

There’s a natural strength that emerges unfiltered in earnest music. That honesty engages in a fundamental way that can’t be discarded or thrown to the side. Scranton transplant, David Tomaine, a.k.a. Cave People’s latest EP Older, which was engineered by Matt Schimelfenig of Three Man Cannon/Miner Street Recordings and released via Stereophonodon Records, has that small town but universal sound we all crave sometimes. How does one describe the beautiful artistry of Power Animal? The music hits a listener from a variety of angles at once. However, this sonic exposure isn’t a smash-and-grab attack. It’s a pensively organic collection of textures, serving as a catalyst to rejuvenation, wiping the slate clean, and starting anew. The freeing tones are inherently light and energetic, generating a head-bobbing sway, while still retaining a depth that captures you at the core. Tonight, Power Animal, a.k.a. Keith Hampson, is part of a lineup at Little Berlin that also includes the delicate daydreaming pop of Sam Tremble & Allison Lorenzen, a.k.a. Slow Dance. Introspective minimalist rocking Vermont transports Hello Shark draw you in close, fleshing out personal narratives that are part stream of consciousness diary-inflected tales. Local producer Zilla Rocca re-imagined “Go,” a song (which features Elucid & Castle) found on the collaboration between Detriot’s Guilty Simpson and hometown producer Small Professor. It originally appeared on their 2013 album Highway Robbery. The remix harnesses an additional layer of grime and menace, hitting from a new angle. This reworked track can be found on Remineded: A Collection of New & Old Remixes due out January 20, 2015 via Coalmine Records.

Beloved Philly hardcore vets Blacklisted has been creeping back into the spotlight as of late. With their fourth studio LP, When People Grow, People Go, the long-awaited follow-up to 2009’s No One Deserves To Be Here More Than Me, scheduled for release on February 10, 2015 via Deathwish, there is a glimmer of hope that fans will get to see them more frequently on stage. The group’s forthcoming eleven-song record was produced by Will Yip, and you can take a listen below to their new track "Deeper Kind," which premiered yesterday at Noisey.

Electro-soul/R&B artist Moon Bounce, a.k.a. Corey Regensburg, just shared a new single called "Body," which is part of Ryan Hemsworth’s Secret Songs series and is available for free download. Regensburg proclaims, "I wrote this song to celebrate my lady’s body and worship carnal desire. It’s my raunchiest song to date, but also the purest." We think someone is being done right. Hopefully this song will get you the same results.

Year of the Hyenas, a collaboration between Reef the Lost Cauze & King Syze, dropped at midnight. The single “Kiss The Ring,” which was produced by Snowgoons and features fellow Army of the Pharaohs member Doap Nixon, creates a deliberate menace with a bounce beat punctuated by stirring strings and a consistent, powerful anthem-esque delivery, handed off in a smooth yet efficiently intense medley fashion. Killer Bangs are getting into the holiday spirit. The good time rock ‘n’ roll crew just released a new three-song EP of original Christmas tunes. And in the season of giving, proceeds from the album will go to Philly’s Toys for Tots. Have a heart, and grab yours ASAP! They’ll also be performing this New Year’s Eve at Kung Fu Necktie.

Dr. Dog has been masterfully covering Architecture in Helsinki’s "Heart It Races" for years now. So obviously, the band’s recent live version release of the song accompanied by an energetic concert footage music video is warmly welcomed by the group’s growing legions of fans. It’s a prelude to the forthcoming first-ever live album from the Philly rockers. Dr. Dog Live at Flamingo Hotel will be available on January 13 via Anti- Records. They’ll be heavily touring in the new year; however, there are no local dates currently on their calendar.
