Recorded, mixed and mastered by Kyle Gilbride (Waxahatchee, Dark Thoughts, Yowler), a new single, “WHO WHAT WEAR,” has materialized from the punk quartet of MINT. Driving bass pushes the tempo as a smooth but on-the-verge-of-frantic vocal delivery describes how the clothes you wear serves as a window into your personality (or at least, the outside world forms opinions based on what they think your clothing, and by extension, image represents). It’s a high-speed streetcar that tears forward almost speeding off the rails in a mad rush, while still holding it all together. You can catch MINT at Cousin Danny’s on Monday, March 25, along with Buffalo’s Science Man.
New Track: “Spoon or Fork” – AllegrA
Yet, Not Enough, the forthcoming EP from AllegrA, is set to arrive on March 12 via Citrus City Records. “Spoon or Fork,” its lead single, captures the picturesque, dreamy qualities of a relationship’s beginning. Getting to know each other while exploring a new, untarnished residence, there’s an inherent sun, shining through the blind’s warmth, as every aspect appears to glimmer optimistically. Then, amid those shimmering qualities, heart-racing instrumentals run lead with guitar riffs, punctuated by percussion, providing a breaking-loose element. (Photo by CJ Simavi)

New Violet Ultraviolet Album Available for Streaming & Purchase
Vermont transplant Jake Brennan’s recording project Violet Ultraviolet recently dropped its new album, As The World Churns. There’s a conversational, spoken-observation feel to these tracks. As though one pleasantly meanders down the road, the songs, pushed by the compact instrumentation, retain a loose, natural aesthetic. Those folk/Americana vibes carry an inherently inviting glimpse into personal storytelling, with a universal reach.
New Andy Holmes Album Available for Streaming & Purchase
Singer-songwriter Andy Holmes, who previously released material under the moniker Burdened Hand, has emerged with a new album, Limping Through Paradise, Come Home. Insightful, isolating, juxtaposing folk seems to explore one’s consciousness. Spiraling guitar patterns feel as though their sifting through a wooded area as the vocals present a sense of mindful clarity, while pulling at the heartstrings in an endearing, melodic manner.

Weekend Warrior, February 8 – 10
Mellow melodies that wash over in a refreshing, weightless fashion, tapping into unassuming R&B grooves, Davey and the Chains sway one into soulful, surf submission. There’s a loose, carefree approach amid those smooth-talking, summer-evening vibes, exuding a tendency to allow those guitars to flare up and stretch out. The soothing harmonies mingle with subtle layerings of instrumentation, creating a peaceful potency – one that relaxes the daily tensions, while tying you into the intimate rhythms. Tonight at Johnny Brenda’s, they’ll be supported by the twisted, country/fuzz-inflected, psych-folk trio of Brain Clouds, with the rollicking, Americana- seasoned rock of Britt Thomas & The Breaker Boys setting the sounds into motion. – Michael Colavita

New Matt Oleksa Album Available for Streaming & Purchase
Clutch is the the latest solo release from Matt Oleksa (St. Peter’s Dog). The vivid, movement-inducing “Confetti” sets the stage for these new batch of recordings. Mercurial electro-synth create a sense of ominous tension within an on-the-go flow. Those haunting grooves grip in a manner befitting a cinematic score.
New Track: “Change” – Bungler
Paul Hewes, a.k.a. Bungler, recently shared the track, “Change,” which is featured on his upcoming album Moon. It also appears as the B-Side to The Sun Shines From Very Far Away, due out on February 23 via Super Wimpy Punch. Solemn somewhat formal keys usher your ears in. However, with a twinkle and drum kick, just close your eyes, and prepare to enter a meditative dreamstate. The song acknowledges the malleable nature of existence, which is countered by the stabilizing force of those around you.
New David Vassalotti LP Available for Streaming & Purchase
Wharf Cat Records recently released Guitar Dream, the new LP from David Vassalotti (co-founder of 4AD’s Merchandise). The daydreaming, personally adrift singer-songwriter disperses tunes in airy sonic vapors. A haunting beauty steeped within lonesome, suspenseful stories that circulate and surround. You can catch Vassalotti along with Palberta, as part of Buck Gooter’s record release on Friday, February 22 at Johnny Brenda’s.
New Track: “Jasmine Seeds” – Boon
All of Us Laughing is the forthcoming album from Boon, and will be released on March 29 via Glass Orchard Records. On its lead single, “Jasmine Seeds,” the steady march of percussion maneuvers forward as overlapping and intersecting vocals lines create a complex psych-pop harmony. Depending on which perspective one chooses to hear from, the song morphs into different shapes. It is as if multiple and at times, conflicting angles converge in a moment of clarity.
