Yet, Not Enough is the new EP from the quartet of AllegrA, which is out now via Citrus City Records. An airy, sunny sensitivity permeates in these recordings. Through infectious twists and turns, the album captures a sense of intimacy, within these sonic adventures. AllegrA will be hosting its record release show at World Cafe Live on Saturday, March 23, joined by Beach Bod and Boosegumps.
New Music Video: “New Smell” – Body Spray
Music To Fall Down To, the new album from Body Spray, is scheduled for release on March 17. The quartet channels the Italian Stallion Rocky Balboa in its video for “New Smell”. Training in the gym and jogging through the streets of Philly, all while drinking beer and adorned in sweatsuits and middle-finger masks, the band hits on a variety of local, iconic landmarks. The imagery reinforces the lyrical desire to be left to one’s own devices in raging, hardcore fashion, yet in a hilarious manner. The band will be welcoming the record’s arrival this Sunday at Ortlieb’s, with Plot and Table.
New Chronic Anxiety/Dialer Split LP Available for Streaming & Purchase
Chronic Anxiety and Dialer share space on their split release via Bunny Cat Records & SRA Records. Chronic Anxiety’s side is stacked with jarring, anxious, observational vocals, a continuous, primal, rhythmic push, and specs of chaotic noise, with a tenacious/groovy dichotomy. Dialer combines a synth-fueled musical attack, with raw, roaring vocals, revealing a harsh electro-punk reality. You can catch their record release celebration on Saturday, March 16 at Time Cube, where they’ll be supported by Cult Objects and Pit Hair.
New Sadurn EP Available for Streaming & Purchase
The duo of Genevieve DeGroot and Jon Cox, a.k.a. Sadurn, recently released an EP Gleam, via Dead Definition Records. Delicate, acoustic guitar and ukulele accentuate DeGroot’s impassioned, silky vocals. Bedroom-folk songwriting addresses personal concerns, while simultaneously capturing a soothing, daydreamy quality and captivating calm. You can find the pair this evening upstairs at World Cafe Live as part of a lineup that also includes Mother Moses and Americanadian.
New Amanda X Single Release Available for Streaming & Download
Amanda X not only returned to the stage this past Saturday at Everybody Hits, they also released a pair of singles. Recorded by Dan Angel and James Ryskalchick at the Dungeon, “Vivid” captures a melodic awakening as the vocals intertwine and the bass pushes the pace, ascending and then spilling over into distorted guitar. “End of Days” jumps right in, recognizing the shortcomings of getting off to a bad start; it trades off vocally, while riding a contrasting exuberance. New Track: “2 Years” – Roz
A bedroom-folk/twee vibe adorns Roz‘s "2 Years". Candid lyricism describes a communicative disconnect and the frustration that results. "Its okay if I walk home in the cold" – the narrator suggests an impasse has been reached. The only question is: What happens next?

New Track: “Better” – Caracara
Caracara is getting ready to release its new EP, Better, digitally (March 29) and on vinyl (April 14) via Memory Music. The record label is run by producer extraordinaire Will Yip, who also sat behind the boards for these latest batch of recordings. The album opener and title track laments over past memories before unleashing a blissfully cathartic conclusion. Full of feels and angst, the Philly quartet’s single also features Mannequin Pussy‘s Marisa Dabice on backing vocals. (Photo by Ashley Gellman)
Weekend Warrior, March 8 – 10
A residue of fuzz hangs in the air as one listens to Loose Tooth; the band toys with tempo, creating a low-key tone with the ability to flip the switch and race downhill at any moment, demolishing whatever lies in its way. There’s a reflective, emotive element, merged with an uncompromising, smashing grunge approach. It retains the heaviness of walking out into a storm, and then finds the temporary reprieve of shelter, taking another surprising turn into crisp, melodic, almost gentle-swaying rock. Then surges forward yet again. The group keeps you on their toes as the musical forecast continuously shifts, exhibiting a fun ferocity. Tonight at Kung Fu Necktie, they’ll be joined by the heady haze of So Totally, the exuberant, infectious, pop-punk pairing of Mike Bell & The Lame-O’s, and the anthemic emo of Ohio’s Maybe Later to round out the lineup into full form. – Michael Colavita

New Track: “Free Around You” – The Dove & The Wolf
“Free Around You” is the latest single from The Dove & The Wolf, and it captures a dreamy intimacy of a meeting. The beauty of vocal harmony takes a somewhat dramatic turn as the hard thump of percussion and horn fills the distance. A natural sense of familiarity allows you to drop your guard and embrace the moment. It’s a graceful, loving admission. Conversations, the duo’s forthcoming full-length debut is slated for release on May 3. (Photo by Marcus Maddox)
Debut Desperate Living EP Available for Streaming & Purchase
Brian Medlin (The Minor Times), Timothy Leo (The Minor Times, Ladder Devils), Scott Signorino (SOLD), and Jonathan Van Dine (CRUISR) combine forces as Desperate Living. Their debut EP New Concrete was engineered and mixed by Uniform Recording’s Jeff Zeigler, and is out now via Brutal Panda Records. It’s a release of controlled aggression over frustrations both past and present. The band unites as a battering ram of musicality ready to tear it all down.
New Nothing Album Available for Streaming & Purchase
Nothing’s Spirit Of The Stairs – B – Sides & Rarities was recently released via Relapse Records. A somber, soothing, shoegazing sound filters through one’s speakers. The album offers a range of sonics from the Philly four-piece; you’ll find stripped-down demos, covers, and B-sides, while they also showcase those hypnotic, searing, sledgehammer atmospherics that we’ve come to know and love from Nicky Palermo and the gang. Nothing will be performing next in Philly with Basement and Teenage Wrist on Tuesday, May 14 at the TLA.
