New Track: “Gold Or Silver” – Three Man Cannon
A honing-in, winding noise gives way to flexible breakout percussion, setting the tempo in Three Man Cannon‘s latest “Gold Or Silver.” The song is the first taste from the band’s new EP Will I Know You Then, which is scheduled for release on November 6 via Lame-O Records. The song gathers instrumental momentum in unison as the vocals lead the way, displaying a guttural pull with a controlled reserve. That measured exertion demonstrates an efficiently planned attacking style. Three Man Cannon ill be performing next in Philly on Friday, October 23 at Girard Hall.

The roots of Philly soul run deep, and artists like Cookie Rabinowitz demonstrate that a rich tradition still thrives. Weekender Opening for Gringo Star at Ortlieb’s Oct. 7
It looks rather grim and grey as I peer toward the heavens and my mind drifts toward the weekend. However, the tipping point lies in a show this evening at Ortlieb’s. Weekender navigates through the mountaintop fog with fuzz-spiked rock and a calm resolve trampling through the terrain in a manner that echoes of Britpop in a refreshing riff-propelled-floating-vocal-psych-stamped way. The trio of Satellite Hearts tethers an assortment of influential sounds, pulling Justin Pellecchia’s cooing vocals soaked in attitude and meshing it with purposeful guitar licks and a rumbling backend that’s garnered Desire Forces the Flow a frequent rotation spot. Sprinkling in classic R&B, a garage punch, onto a psych-rock scenario, Atlanta’s Gringo Star headline. Ortlieb’s, 847 N. Third St., 9pm, $10, 21+ (Photo by Jen Bragan) – Michael Colavita
