Palm explore a second life as digital avatars in the music video for “Shadow Expert,” the title track of their latest EP, released via Carpark Records. Friends of the band, JP Mayer and Valentina Tapia, produced the video, which features the band’s members waking up in a jaunty, iridescent world of shapeshifting animals and pulsating structures. Much like Jerry Paper’s music video for “Real. Now. Love.”, Palm’s “Shadow Expert” toys with the impartiality and limitations of ironic digital design, while producing in effect a thoughtful and dynamic visual experience that comes in at around the three minute mark. The quartet is currently on tour with Palberta through the end of July, and also will be embarking on a European tour in September.
New Track: “Exquisite” – Amanda X
Giant, the forthcoming album from the trio of Amanda X, will be released via Self Aware Records on August 18, with proceeds benefitting Women Against Abuse. The record’s starter, “Exquisite,” gradually wakens as the guitar stretches before a percussive surge announces its arrival. Calmly contemplating lonesomeness, co-lead vocals volley back and forth, banked by the refined rush of instrumentation. Amanda X is slated on this Friday’s bill at Boot & Saddle, with Magic Deal and The Van Pelt.
New Track: “Sainthood” (Demo) – Cult Objects
Bass gives way to a tumultuous torrent of noise in Cult Objects debut offering, “Sainthood”. Describing the unfortunate fallout of a relationship gone sour, the demo utilizes emotive fuel, adhering while demonstrating the chaotic aftermath. You can catch the fledgling punk outfit’s first show on Wednesday, August 16 at LAVA Space with Minneapolis’s Tony Peachka.
New Pulsewidthmod EP Available for Streaming & Purchase
Mercurial, synth-oriented melodies, stabilized by the constant pulse of electronic beats, as ominous tones permeate the caverns of the deep space, Calling All Rebellions…, the new release from Pulsewidthmod, a.k.a. M. Maeghan Donovan, eerily entices. Casey Grabowski (Obligate Surrogate) captured the April 8th performance in Baltimore, complete with its serpentine enchanting grooves. Now, as Grabowski battles cancer, all proceeds will be donated to him for the rest of the year so pay it forward. BTW: FUCK CANCER!!!

New Pouty EP/Video Available for Streaming & Purchase
Philly/LA-based recording artist Pouty, a.k.a. Rachel Gagliardi (formerly of Slutever), just shared her new four-song EP, entitled St. Mary Of The Moods. It was mostly written in the City of Brotherly Love and recorded with Al Creedon at Fancy Time Studio. The entire album also comes with a dreamy video that was created by Emily Alben. "Heavily inspired by PJ Harvey, cults, and anxiety attacks, the new songs address fresh starts and personal growth," Gagliardi shared with Stereogum. St. Mary Of The Moods is now available on cassette via Born Losers Records, and you can stream the EP with its visuals below.

New Japanese Breakfast LP Available for Streaming & Purchase
Michelle Zauner has had our attention since the Post Post days, when she first burst on the Philly music scene with her endearing, child-like vocals and ability to write ear-borrowing hooks. (How many of you out there still miss that band?) It was apparent to us then that after Post Post’s disbandment, we would certainly be hearing more from the talented songstress. Well, you can now check out the latest release from bedroom-pop solo project Japanese Breakfast, Soft Sounds From Another Planet (Dead Oceans), an album whose origins began as a science fiction concept musical. Though the concept was never fully realized, it remains the foundation of another heartbreakingly honest record of her new and reworked older compositions.
Debut Whaler Jr. Album Available for Streaming & Purchase
RFA bassist Brendan McHale just released his debut self-titled album under the moniker Whaler Jr. The lo-fi LP was recorded on a handheld tape recorder and mixed through Garageband on his iPhone. McHale played most of the instruments on the record, except for the drums found in "Mississippi Rain," which were courtesy of Christian Turzo. Feel free to crank up your air conditioning, and take it for a spin!
